The Dutch Quarter is unique in Europe and rightly so. It’s a little piece of Holland in Potsdam. We inform you, whether it’s worth visiting. p. 4 The Film Park Babelsberg is a famous amusement park in Potsdam. Many movies have already been filmed there, for example “Die drei Musketiere”(The three Musketeers), “Hänsel und Gretel: Hexenjäger”(Hänsel and Gretel: Witch hunters) and “Die Schöne und das Biest”(The Beauty and the Beast). 1 p. 3

Sancoucci General information
Potsdam is famous for its Sanssouci palace but there is even more. Its charm is that it comes up with a great mix of countless historical sights and the great nature around. The palace with 12 glamorous rooms including a concert hall is located on top of a terraced vineyard. He called it Sanssouci - in French "without worries" - because here he could leave the formalities of the royal court behind and had time for his hobbies music and philosophy.1) This UNESCO World Heritage Site, built between 1745 and 1747, is known for its treasures inside and out.2)
Highlights Highlights include the white and gold Marble Hall reception area and the Voltaire Room, named after the French philosopher and frequent palace guest. The large landscaped park is dotted with fountains, with faux ruins and classical statues among the many points of interest. Also at Sanssouci is the splendid Neues Palace (New Palace), the Orangerie, which houses a gallery, and the Drachenhaus (Dragon House) that now holds a pleasant cafĂŠ for park visitors.2)

Filmpark Babelsberg General information
Potsdam-Babelsberg is a big amusement park in Potsdam. The park includes around 20 attractions and 4 shows and they have their own mascot called Flimmy. It’s located on terrain media city Babelsberg. The project began after the German reunification and opened on the 15. August 1991. The park shows exhibitions like a Schneideraum, Filmarbeitsplätze and outside decoration. Since the 15. August 1993 it’s possible to take part in a studio tour. The first stunt show premiere was 1993. 1998 original requisites of the cinema movie “Prinz Eisenherz” were used to create a restaurant with the same name. Sometimes there are events like the horror night on Halloween, and events about the mythology form the times of princes, knights and wenches. 1999 arena for the daily live stunt show, which is open air, was opened. Also Live-Concerts, Open-Air-cinema already took place. The season start 2012 included the premiere Making-of Show “Die drei Musketiere in 3D“ (The three Musketeers)

The Dutch Quarter General information
Residents and tourists are equally fond of the Dutch Quarter, which covers an area of four city blocks with about 150 houses built of red bricks in the Dutch style: unplastered, with white seams, shuttered windows, and sometimes, sweeping gables.This ensemble of buildings is unique in Europe. It was built in the period from 1734 to 1742 for Dutch craftsmen who were invited to come to Potsdam by King Frederick Wilhelm I, the Soldier King.

Highlights You can stroll through the quarter and discover the many exclusive shops, cosy coffee houses, and restaurants, which, in addition to the architecture, define the special flair of this quarter or visit one of the two museums and get two know something about the history of the quarter. In April there is a popular Dutch tulip festival, there is potters' market in September and of course 'Sinterklaas' always visits the Christmas market during Advent.
