Neuschwanstein castle

Neuschwanstein Castle Why being satisfied with reading fairy tales when you can visit one? Situated in the idyllic landscape of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most impressive castles worldwide and attracts about 1.4 million visitors a year. Its romantic architecture stands out like a jewel among rough mountainsides and picturesque valleys. The beauty of Neuschwanstein Castle did not only serve as inspiration for Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castles, it also became Disney’s logo. History

Neuschwanstein was built on behalf of King Louis II. who intended to use it as a hiding place from public. The construction process started in summer 1868. Sadly, King Louis died before the building works were finished. Its completion was delayed several times due to changing wishes and demands of the king. In 1886, the first visitors were allowed in Neuschwanstein, although it took another six years for it to be absolutely finished.

The construction

Neuschwanstein Castle consists of umpteen single parts of structure which were constructed over a length of 150 meters on top of a rock originally called “Jugend” (Engl.: youth). The sustained building is furnished with numerous towers, ornamental turrets, pediments, balconies and sculptures. Neuschwanstein was designed as a romantic ideal of a knight’s castle. Its structure was volitionally planned asymmetrical and built in consecutive phases.

Approach

Résumé We recommend you to visit Neuschwanstein Castle because although only one of us has already been there, we are all impressed and fascinated by its beautiful architectture, noble interior and the dream-like landscape surrounding it. Seeing all of that in real life must be even more breathtaking than just looking at pictures. Neuschwanstein Castle is worth a visit for both older and younger generations. Where some people might feel drawn to its history and want to experience a little time-travel while walking through King Louis’ throne room, others might love the fairy-tale atmosphere and would like to take a look at the place that inspired Disney princesses’ castles. There are many aspects making Neuschwanstein a great destination. We hope to get the chance to visit it ourselves one day, and maybe our brochure made some of you want to see the castle as well. Have a good trip!
