Brandenburg Gate

The Brandenburg Gate was erected between 1788 and 1791 according to designs by Carl Gotthard Langhans whose vision was inspired by the Propyläen in Athens’ Acropolis. It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace. The Quadriga is a sculpture representing the Goddess of Victory. The broad street ‘Unter den Linden’, which offers a boulevard in its middle to have nice walks, leads directly towards the Brandenburg Gate.

Victory Column

"Golden Lizzie," as it is known in Berlin slang, was originally designed by Heinrich Strack and was built between and 1864 and 1873 at today’s ‘Platz der Republik’. The reason for its being built was Prussia’s victory in the German-Danish war in 1864. In the course of a few years, two additional victorious wars were added: the German war of 1866 against Austria and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1. These three victories are commemorated by the three original segments, onto which a bronze sculpture was placed. During the era of National Socialism, the Victory Column increased in size to a total height of 67 meters.

We recommend the city Berlin because it is a city with many diversitys. You can visit old things like the wall, but new ones as well like the partys which are amazing.
