Purpose We respond to God’s call, saving people from all forms of poverty and human su ering.
Vision Our vision is to see people restored from physical, spiritual, social and emotional poverty, Instill hope in others.

And yet, hope remains FRIENDS OF HOPE, KFHI
Late one night in 1971, Dr. Larry Ward witnessed in his dream, thousands of faces dying of famine and disease. Upon waking up, he began his specific ministry committed to helping people dying of hunger and founded Food for the Hungry(FH). In 1989, Dr. Ward’s commitment opened a new chapter with the founding of Korea Food for the Hungry International(KFHI). As the first international relief and development NGO founded in Korea, KFHI is actively working to serve people in physical and spiritual hunger, grounded on Christian values.
Despite the world’s relentless progress, only a privileged few enjoy its benefits. Some su er daily from harsh realities, while others never experience pain. Some have mundane routines, while others can only dream of such stability.
Physical poverty such as food shortages can be life-threatening. In a similar manner, KFHI also believes that spiritual hunger can be equally life-threatening. We approach both the physical and spiritual aspects of poverty through ‘Bread and Gospel’. The value of ‘Relief and Mission’ is balanced throughout our work, in our endeavor to aid all people in poverty.

For greater impact, we transform communities and empower local leaders.
We foster the holistic recovery of children and communities around the world.

We strive to revitalize people su ering from economic, social, emotional and spiritual poverty through its work in welfare, relief & development, social economy and other sectors.

Asset-based Approach
We work with local people to discover potentials and resources. We then establish a plan together to fully utilize potentials and transform communities.

Integrated Approach

We utilize an integrated approach and tackle the underlying causes of poverty. As poverty is multifaceted, multiple perspectives need to be integrated for a comprehensive understanding of local situations.

Long-term Relationship
We forge long relationships with the communities, compounding mutual trust and understanding. We engage each community about a decade for the transformation process.

We believe that community transformation is what ultimately changes the lives of children in the most vulnerable places. We transform communities to be where children can grow healthy.

We support the sustainable growth of communities through various programs and projects. Based on the Child-Focused Community Transformation(CFCT) Model, KFHI implements projects in education, health & sanitation, livelihoods, humanitarian aid, spiritual support, and more.
