KNH/UON Consultants meet to discuss ways of improving service delivery

By Winfred Gumbo Consultants from Kenyatta National Hospital and the University of Nairobi held a meeting on March 1, 2022, to explore, amongst others, how to further improve service delivery to patients. The meeting was chaired by KNH’s Senior Director Clinical Services Dr. Irene Inwani who apprised the consultants on the recent developments in the hospital, the main one being the implementation of the referral system. More work, she said, was being done to streamline services in the facility. “KNH and UON have worked closely together, especially during the time of Covid-19 and I hope there will be a continuity in working together,” said Dr. Inwani. “Our patients should be treated with respect and dignity; they should be given the utmost respect they deserve. All these will happen if we have a positive culture,” she added. Prof. C. F. Otieno, Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, UON, while echoing Dr. Inwani’s sentiments, stressed the need for accountability, while

emphasizing the importance of the two institutions working together for the benefit of patients. Prof. Evelyne Wagaiyu, Ag. Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, UON/ Associate Dean Postgraduate Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, UON on her part said; “Today is about asking each one of us to do our best since we need each other, we should all work together for the benefit of our students, patients, and the

institutions.” KNH CEO, Dr. Evanson Kamuri, EBS emphasized the need for optimism and a futuristic approach towards various matters within the two institutions. “We need to be authentic leaders, train our students well and treat each other right as there is no profession better than the other,” said Dr. Kamuri.
