NEW MEMBER EXPERIENCE

On the very first day I was a little bit of nervousBut when I entered, all the members in our club warmly welcome me and I was so touched by the incredible warmth of reception and generosity.

I feel like we are one family.Every member in our club is very kind-hearted, humble, friendly and generous. Actually this is the platform that we can improve our presentation skills, leadership qualities, kick our shyness off and stage fear

I hope to give my best to eluminate our club.

TM Binari Bandara

I got to know this club by a former Kegalle toastmaster member. On the first day I was a little bit nervous, because I was afraid of speaking in front of an audience. I was warmly welcomed by the Kegalle Toastmasters. I can highly recommend this club as a treatment to beat stage fear and performance anxiety. In addition, I believe this is the best place to improve my public speaking skills.

NEW MEMBER EXPERIENCE

TM Dilani Dhananjaya

I can remember the day I found my passion for public speaking It was the day I watched Dananjaya Hettiarachchi ‘s winning speech for the World Championship of Public Speaking 2014. Observing my enthusiasm, my brother recommended me the Toastmasters Club So I thought, “Why not?” Now being one of the newest members of the KTMC, I have taken the best decision. I have no words to express my gratitude towards the KTMC’S senior members for their warm welcome and encouragement This fraternity is professional, and, at the same time, it is friendly So, the members and the guests are confident enough to grab opportunities. Through KTMC I hope to expand my knowledge and enhance my experiences while giving my best to the club In a nutshell, KTMC is a family to me

"Toastmaster "

Actually what is it? Who is a toastmaster ? What should we do to join the toastmaster family ? What is the procedure ?

I haven't had any clear idea about it But I knew that there is something called "Toastmasters" Luckily my subconscious mind forced me to join as a guest So finally I attended to the very first day with little bit confusion

When I go there, there was a friendly welcoming environment, which made me comfortable After the session started all my nervousness vanished away Simply, "Toastmasters" is there to help you with improving your leadership and communication skills All the speakers and role players are being evaluated throughout the meeting which accelerates our growthOverall, joining a Toastmasters club is an excellent experience and I hope to improve public speaking and leadership skills in a supportive environment like this

When a friend told me about the Kegalle Toastmasters club, I was curious but also quite nervous as someone who’s always been afraid of public speaking. It was the main reason for me to join this club In my first meeting at KTMC, I was warmly welcomed by all the members, and I was so impressed by the supportive and very friendly members of the club Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of meetings where I learned valuable skills related to public speaking and was able to gradually build my confidence What I appreciate most about KTMC is its focus on continuous improvement and growth. So, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful community and looking forward to continue my journey with this amazing club. 08/23

A TMOD SPEAKS...

Being the Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD) is a unique and rewarding experience. As a new member of Toastmasters, I was excited and a little nervous about my first experience as TMOD It was held on 30th March via Zoom. That meeting was a special meeting for our club because we had a visiting Toastmaster TM Sherine from the Moratuwa toastmasters club as our general evaluator.

As the TMOD, I was responsible for leading the meeting and ensuring that everything ran smoothly. Preparing for the meeting was a big part of the experience. I spent several hours carefully planning the meeting agenda, choosing the themes, and selecting the different roles. The theme was “Life with Toastmasters “.That theme resonates with each and every toastmaster. I also practiced my introductions and transitions to ensure that everything flowed seamlessly.

On the day of the meeting, I was a little nervous, but I tried to stay calm and focused. One of the most rewarding aspects of being TMOD was seeing the impact of the meeting on the members. I also enjoyed the opportunity to connect with members and get to know them better. Being TMOD also taught me the importance of teamwork and collaboration.

In conclusion, being TMOD is an unforgettable experience. Members of our club and also the visiting toastmaster assisted me in making that meeting successful.

3 March, 2023.

This is such a remarkable day in my toastmasters journey as I got the privilege of hosting the toastmasters awareness session of Area 1, themed “Toastmasters as professionals”. It was my very 1 time hosting an event I haven’t played the role of a host before, even in the school days so it was obviously a challenge for me. Then again, the toastmasters spirit popped out of me. Almost all the members of our Kegalle toastmasters family propped me up at least with a cheering and supportive word.

st

With all that backing from my KTMC fam I got guts and yeah, I was able to successfully wrap that session up Honestly that was such a worthy experience even for my own self as an undergraduate. We had 5 professionals who belong to various different fields and are also toastmasters. They shared their experiences & thoughts on how being a toastmaster could advance each carrier.

So, I was lucky enough to get the hosting experience plus the knowledge on the linkage between each carrier & toastmasters through the same single session. I am more than grateful to our Area Director TM Dinesh Nadun along with the president of Kegalle toastmasters TM Chathura

Weerasinghe for providing me with this valuable opportunity.

Art of Freedom and digital nomadism in Sri Lanka.

Digital nomadism provides a unique opportunity to work remotely while exploring new places. It is a way of life that allows a unique blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty. There is an art of freedom where digital nomads can tap into their creativity, push their limits, and connect with a vibrant community of like-minded individuals and this allows a freedom to choose where they work and when they work which can lead to a better work-life balance and a more fulfilling lifestyle. Sri Lanka is very popular destination for digital nomads who are looking to discover the art of freedom and experience the digital nomad lifestyle. MERRY TOASTMAS!!

On the 30th of December 2022 the members of Central Link Toastmasters Club and Kegalle Toastmasters Club gathered and the Oak Ray Residencies Kandy for the Christmas themed joint meeting named “Merry Toastmas”. It was the beginning of a new found friendship between the two clubs and the end of a very eventful year of toast-mastering for both the clubs.

After weeks of planning by the coordinators of the event TM Kavindu from CLTMC and TM Thejith from KTC the meeting was held in August manner headed by the toastmasters of the day TM Disara.

The event started off with the VP Ed of KTC welcoming the guests and giving a quick introduction about the importance of Christmas and handing the power to TM Disara.

After that it was time to be warmed up. The RRM for the meeting was TM Imasha from KTC who took this session and made it so that all the toastmasters present would become closer as a group giving the speakers the opportunity to speak about the person seated next to you.

After that it was time for the last prepared speech session of 2022. Four prepared speeches were done in total. Two speeches representing each club. With speeches from TM Anuththara, TM Vinura, TM Sasmitha and an Ice-breaker from TM Shimer. After a brilliant and very entertaining prepared speech session we moved on to the exciting table topic session

The TTM for the final time for 2022 was the president of CLT herself TM Linali who gave a new perspective towards the table topic session by incorporating acting into the session.

After witness the Brad Pitts and Angelina Jolies of the two clubs it was time for the most important part of the meeting. The evaluation session headed by the general evaluator TM Kavindu. Each speaker of the day were shown the good parts and the points to improve in their speeches followed by the meeting being evaluated as a whole by the general evaluator.

After that moment of learning it was time to choose the winners of the Christmas themed meeting. The winners were as follows, Best Prepared Speaker- TM Shimer

Best Table Topic Speaker- TM Shimer and TM Hiruni

Best Role Player - TM Disara

Best Evaluator - TM Kavindu

After a very exuberant meeting the closing remarks were given by the president of CLTMC TM Linali.

The final meeting for the year 2022 was concluded in that manner but not before enjoying a feast organized at the Oak Ray Regency buffet.
