Retirement living - design services Capability statement

Keeley Green is the owner and Lead Interior Designer at Keeley Green Design. With 15 years’ experience in property development and the retirement living industry, formal training at the Florence Design Academy in Italy, and a successful design studio in London, Keeley brings a refined sense of grace, character, and a keen eye for quality to each and every project. Keeley’s classic contemporary design aesthetic translates across bespoke commercial developments, luxury residential properties and yachts.
While living in London, Keeley co-founded luxury hand-designed wallpaper and fabric brand Ailanto Design, in partnership with creative luminary Amanda Ferragamo. Keeley returned to Australia in 2017, establishing a studio in Brisbane and introducing Ailanto to the Australian market. Her studio is located in Brisbane’s design hub of Newstead and is an inviting space where we collaborate with clients on the creative, practical, and budgetary elements of their property or yacht.
Keeley has an enduring passion and drive for creating spaces that are stylish, beautiful, and functional using sophisticated design that will stand the test of time.
Architecture and interior design are two very different skill sets that synergistically bring together the best possible outcome for a new building, particularly when working collaboratively from the outset. If an architect is a specialist in the construction design of buildings, an interior designer is a specialist for designing and finishing the inside of those buildings. For refurbishments in particular, an interior designer can often manage the complete internal design and works and may be a more relevant option.
In basic terms, an architect designs and builds the structure of the building whilst the interior designer creates the beauty and practicality of the internal finishes, layout and feeling. An interior designer may make suggestions around some architectural items of a project such as relocating or removing a wall (particularly during a renovation) but will need to receive confirmation that such a suggestion is possible from an architect, engineer or builder.
An interior designer focuses on the aesthetics and human aspects of the building – the internal space, how it will be used and how the space will look and feel. They will always design for the purpose of the space. They should provide creative direction, detailed design drawings (plans, internal elevations and sections) and take care of scheduling including: fixtures and fittings; finishes; furniture; lighting; custom joinery (kitchens, bathrooms, bookcases etc) and decor - to meet the client’s brief. In some cases an interior designer will also provide styling services.
It goes without saying that interior designers, as with architects, tend to have a style that they bring to a project. Some designers create a more modern aesthetic, some are more elegant, some are traditional whist others are following trends. It is important to choose an interior designer that will create interiors that match your target market and brand. This is when the sales magic of a commercial project really happens.
Ailanto Design is a collaboration between Keeley Green and Amanda Ferragamo. It is inspired by the natural world with authentic designs using bold colours and patterns. The name itself stems from the wild Ailantus plant that blossoms in the spring all over the Italian countryside denoting the winged seeds which bore Amanda’s first ‘official’ design “Semi”.
Ailanto Design produces unique wallpaper, fabric and furniture designs each hand drawn and painted by Amanda ferragamo. The unique wallpaper and fabric designs, both custom and bespoke bring interiors to life, providing guidance to both experienced industry professionals as well as the general public.
All our designs are printed in the UK and Italy using only the best quality fabrics and materials. We are stocked worldwide, launching successfully in Australia in 2019.

“Keeley Green was responsible for the interior design of the facilities buildings and display homes for our Kensington Gardens retirement lifestyle estates in Albury and Shepparton.
As leaders in the industry, it was important that the interior design reflect the discerning taste of the active over 50 retirees that Kensington Gardens caters to. Keeley designed our display homes and coordinated the furnishing and finishes of our $4 million country club facilities in each estate.
Keeley has a keen eye for detail both the homes and the country clubs are well designed, inviting and look and feel luxurious. Keeley achieved this on a reasonable budget.
“We enjoyed collaborating with Keeley on the refurbishment of aspects of our Resort. Over a period of time we have addressed the refurbishment of our 1 and 2 bedroom units, our community halls and village square featuring our restaurants. The resort was built in the 1980s and Keeley assisted us with redesigning the layout of the units to incorporate kitchenettes as well as new finishes and furniture suggestions. In other areas of the resort we have called on her expertise to assist with creative direction, space planning and finishes which she has then handed over to our builders for completion. Keeley has worked well within our team, assisting with as much design work as required during different phases of the refurbishment and has always delivered the information in a concise and timely manner with budget in mind. We are thrilled with the results and have built a good working relationship. We look forward to calling on Keeley’s expertise again in the future”.
“We’ve enjoyed our collaboration with the Keeley Green Interior Design team. Keeley brings a fresh eye to marine interior fitout and while she has a sound understanding of material selections required for a commercial ocean going environment, she also has a style that speaks to timeless luxury. Keeley is a hands-on designer, able to source key pieces from suppliers worldwide that give our vessels a bespoke feel that will create a truly memorable experience for our charter guests. She is personable, assured and innovative, able to translate our vision for the project but also enhance that brief through her own elegant design aesthetic. We would thoroughly recommend Keeley Green Interior Design for anyone in the maritime industry considering either a re-fit or new build.”
