WHAT’S POPPIN’ SUNNIES! WOW it is my LAST issue of The Yellow Pages…. It was a pleasure to serve the beloved suns as their News Editor for the 2021-2022 term, and I can’t believe that it is already time to say goodbye. I am beyond grateful for the experiences Key Club has blessed me with and all of the amazing relationships I have got to create because of this Key Club community. While making my newsletters this term, it gave me a chance to truly see how far our division has come. Everything we’ve accomplished this term was thanks to all of you amazing suns who make me fall in love with the club even more every day. Key Club was one of my biggest core memories in my high school journey, and I am so thankful for every little moment. To my fellow seniors, congratulations on finishing your final term off, and I wish you all luck on your next path! I have dedicated a special section to all of you amazing seniors like a mini Key Club Graduation ceremony. Thank you all for your service, and Division 30 South will surely miss your spirit :’) To our LTG-elect Sania, I wish you the best of luck in keeping our legacy alive and shining. Stay strong and creative—show them all what it means to be a sun :D Thank you all so so so much from the bottom of my heart for reading and supporting the Yellow Pages, and I hope to see you all again soon! <3 I love you all very much :D

03 | LETTER FROM YOUR LTG

Hello Sunshines, As our term comes to a close I’d like to express how incredibly grateful I am for this division and our members. You all are the heart and soul of this organization and I’ve had the greatest experience this term because of your energy. We’ve accomplished so much together, from building back a community from an online term to being featured for serving the MOST service hours in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District! Looking back on it, I’ll never forget the iconic rap battle that we had at the online rap battle social “Show me the spirit” with D16E, D16W, AND D30N. My favorite line? “YUH YEE we the BEEs, always staying SAFE KEY!” Not to mention all the absolutely terrific mic problems and issues that came with using zoom as a platform! I will also never forget the anxiousness I felt as we prepared for our first ever in-person event in a year, D30S Servathon, and my gratitude after that everything went smoothly. Reflecting on it all, I am honestly in tears– this term has been simultaneously long yet speedy, and I hope that this term was just as enjoyable and memorable for you as it was for me. I am so excited to see what our division accomplishes in the next term, and I am utterly confident that your new LTG Sania Usmani will be able to take this division to soaring heights. It is my absolute honor and pride to say that I have served Division 30 South, the beloved suns, this past term. Let's finish off this term with excellence. Keep shining bright suns!

Signing off,

LETTER FROM YOUR LTG-ELECT | 04

elect RISE AND SHINE, SUNS! If you don’t know me, my name is Sania Usmani and I am so incredibly excited to be serving as your Lieutenant Governor-Elect for the 2022 - 2023 term!!! I am a current sophomore at Whitney High School and I have also had the honor of serving as one of your Executive Assistant this term! First and foremost, I want to thank YOU, Division 30 South, for placing your trust in me and allowing me to serve you all, the beloved Suns, to the highest degree possible. Thank you for the continous amounts of support and encouragement that I have received throughout my time as a member, officer, and Elect! I have never met a family as bright as ours, and I vow to uphold our legacy as we continue to burn even brighter. With the unwavering skills, dedication, and passion that the Suns hold, I have so much faith in us and our ability to reach new heights next term, TOGETHER, and I know we can do it! As the 2021 - 2022 term comes to an end, I like to think back to all of the wonderful experiences and cherishable memories that I have been able to build alongside our division. Although the term began virtually, it’s amazing to think about how quickly we were able to bounce back into an active and exciting in-person term. We have accomplished so much thus far, in terms of fundraising, service, and growth. But most of all, I am so proud of the warm, inviting community that 30 South has never failed to create for our division. Whether it be over Zoom or side by side, our family of Suns remain as strong as ever, and for that I am immensely grateful. Division 30 South, no amount of words could express the love and gratitude that I hold for all of you. But, once again, thank you for this amazing opportunity and please feel free to reach out to me whenever needed. Let’s all stay SPIRITED and MOTIVATED as we approach the upcoming term! I truly cannot wait for what’s in store, and I hope you all are as hyped as I am >:) I promise that I will not let you down!!!

05 | ARTICLE: JANUARY DCM: CONCLAVE

JANUARY DCM region 3 conclave r e c a p

One of Key Club’s core values is leadership. Leadership is a huge part of Key Club, as we are heavily student run, with our own leadership systems. We have club boards, division leadership teams, region teams made up of our LTGs, district board members, and an international board. Each part is necessary to maintain the balance in Key Club, and at Conclave, we were able to witness the election of our next leader. During Conclave 2022, Key Clubbers from all over the region got to see the making of our next leaders – the election of our next Division LTGs. Conclave was a hybrid event, meaning people could go to the site directly and watch the election speeches, voting, and announcements in person, or they could join a zoom meeting to watch from behind their screens. Any dues paid member attending was allowed to voice questions during candidate caucus (question) sessions, whether through a microphone or through the Zoom chat. There were two delegates from each school in each division who were able to directly vote on their future LTG – future leader. The entire process mimicked and reflected the election processes that our U.S. government uses, although there were clear differences. After all, Key Club candidates are not supposed to campaign, our elections are a little less complicated, and the spectators and voters are all one big community. Even so, this event made me realize that although we are all connected by this organization called Key Club, outside of that, we are all our own persons that will eventually graduate, leave, change, and perhaps make a difference in the real world outside, later on. Key Club is merely a stage – a step – in these people’s lives that may make them a better leader and give them many beautiful memories of their youth. Overall, the event itself was a rewarding experience, as we got to hear many amazing speeches, the promise of different candidates, and the potential of every division. These people are the people who may become future leaders in other areas, besides Key Club; the people who are taking a step towards a greater position in this organization. New leaders are being born every moment, and in Key Club, we are lucky, because we have direct access to these amazing people, and we have a direct influence on the emergence of our own leaders. Key Club may only be a short period of time during one’s high school years, but it’s influence may last a lifetime!

Hi Division 30 South!! I am so grateful to this division for all the memories that I've made. Ever since I took on a bigger role as Oxford's Spirit Chair this year (and the unofficial Division Friendship Chair :D), I've been able to do more this term than I have in the other 2 years that I've been in Key Club. While I wish I was in Key Club as a freshman and was more active during my sophomore and junior years, I'm happy that my lack of participation earlier motivated me to do as much as I can this term. I've been able to meet so many amazing people from D30S and beyond, and I feel like I've grown so much as a person and a leader due to my involvement in Key Club. I'm forever grateful that Key Club has been such a crucial part of my senior year and my high school experience in general. I can't wait to see how D30S grows over the next term over social media while I'm at college! Always shine bright Suns!

I know you're all aspiring towards wonderful dreams and adventures, and I can only wish you nothing but the best of luck. I hope to see some of you once I start CSUF so we can continue our adventure together in Circle K (along with other clubs) and make more amazing memories like we have in Key Club. To those who'll be heading off to other universities, I hope we can stay in touch, and who knows, maybe we can see each other in a joint Circle K event in the future!

Beverly, thanks for always making me feel appreciated, espec ially in my first few months. Even though I was a shy kid who didn’t really participate in the more social things, I could always talk to you while doing service projects and feel comfo rtable. Thanks for being an inspiration and taking care of me, even though you don’t have to. I’ll always remember the Irvine Global Village Festival and the first time I really got to know you at September DCM. Joshua, thanks for being like an older brother and kind of like an older me. You were one of the first friends I made when I first started, and you’ve taugh t me so much since then. I could always count on you to go to events with me, and ask you for advice about school and just random things I wondered about. I still remem ber the first time we met, hiding from a picture together, and Paint N Picnic. Anna, thanks for taking me in and making me feel like a part of cypress. Thanks for being my friend and favorite president. I honestly barely remember how we met, maybe it was at Paint N Picnic or a Spirit Night, but I’m grateful for all the time you’ve spent with me. Still can’t believe you forgot about me at Solar New Year but it's okay, I'll miss you for the most part.
