Membership is limited to faculty, staff, students and degree holding graduates of Georgia State University. Current students are members through their Atlanta campus student fee.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

Personal training sessions include cardiovascular exercises, muscle strengthening and endurance exercises, and flexibility exercises. Nutrition consultation sessions include discussions about my dietary habits and goals for my nutritional intake based on my nutritional needs and within the scope of practice of the nutrition practitioner. I understand that sessions can only include matters within the scope of practice offered by the Fitness Center staff and their respective programs and services. The Fitness Center reserves the right to make referrals out rather than provide services to clients when issues exceed the scope of available services or scope of practice of the practitioner.

Touch the Earth TRIP DESCRIPTIONS ADVENTURE SPORTS Caving 101 Join us as we explore Petty Johns Cave in north Georgia. This trip is perfect for the outdoor enthusiasts and beginner cavers.

Includes transportation, leadership and some equipment.

Jennifer Pecoraro Adventure on the Ocoee Experience the Ocoee River in a variety of ways over the course of two days. Activities include paddleboarding, hiking, camping, whitewater rafting and hanging out along the river.

Anna Inman and TTE Staff Horseback Forest Trail Riding Beginner and experienced riders alike will enjoy Blue Ridge, Georgia by horseback on two different trips. Spend 1 ½ hours in the saddle on the trail and tour the mountain area or orchard afterward.

Historic Savannah and Tybee Island This three-day trip will include two days at Tybee Island and one day in Savannah.

Activities will include camping, hiking, and geocaching at Skidaway Island State, followed by a tour of historic Savannah.

The group will return to Tybee for more camping and hiking the last day, hopefully being able to see turtle hatching if we’re lucky!

FLATWATER

Full Moon Paddle Enjoy the full moon in all its splendor from a kayak on High Falls Lake. Join the ranger for this short, two-mile paddle and learn more about the moon and stars. This trip is open to adults with kayaking experience.

TTE Staff Stand-Up Paddleboarding for Beginners Enjoy a night of camping followed by a day on the water. The class will help you develop fundamental paddleboarding skills such as balance, steering and recovery techniques. After class, soak in High Falls Lake from the view of a paddleboard. Must be a swimmer.

WHITEWATER Whitewater 4 day Canoe School* This course is regarded as the most comprehensive, most constructive and most memorable whitewater canoeing and instruction around. Absolutely NO prior experience is necessary. You’ll be rewarded with views of a gorgeous river and learn from excellent instructors. Canoeing and camping equipment is not provided due to regulations, but may be rented for the course at a cost of $60.

Solo Canoe School This two-day instruction trip is offered to experienced tandem canoe paddlers who want to learn to paddle solo. Canoeing and camping equipment is not provided, due to regulations, but may be rented for the course at a cost of $40 for students (trip is free).

BOULDERING CAVE

Experienced climbers may lead climb routes during normal hours.

You must follow the designated lead route. Ask about a Lead Climbing Certification Clinic to certify or challenge out. You must be belay certified for at least six months or prove significant experience.

The cave has both vertical and horizontal overhanging terrain.

Any skill level may use it in a “no ropes” bouldering format. It is located across from racquetball court #4 adjacent to the Climbing Wall. Check in with the Climbing Wall attendant.

Individual rooms or the entire lodge may be reserved by chartered student organizations and faculty or staff departments for university approved meetings. If you would like to host your event outside, we also have available for reservation a half acre event lawn.
