Membership is limited to faculty, staff, students and degree holding graduates of Georgia State University. Current students are members through their student fee.

Swim the Beltline

June 10-July 31

This new summer swim program challenges you to complete the length of the Atlanta beltline (36.3 miles) in the SRC pool over the course of summer semester. Count your laps as you swim, kick, pull, or aquajog your way across the pool, then ask the lifeguards how you can log your distance. Prizes will be available to the three swimmers that swim the longest distance, as well as anyone that completes 36.3 miles.

CHILD SWIM LESSONS Saturday Classes

All Children’s classes meet on Saturdays.

PARENT & CHILD Parent & Child

10-10:25 a.m.

For ages 6-36 months; parent(s) must participate in the water with the child. This class teaches underwater acclimation while parents learn how to give their child a positive experience in the water.

PRESCHOOL 10:30-10:55 a.m.

Preschool 1 3 to 5 year olds who are new to the water will develop comfort in the water, learn water entry, bubble blowing, floating, kicking, underwater exploration and general water safety skills.

Preschool 2

11-11:25 a.m.

Prerequisite: Able to demonstrate completion requirements of Preschool 1. 3 to 5 year olds who are very comfortable in the water will learn new skills such as combined arm and leg action on front, treading with support and general water safety skills.

CHILDREN’S LEVELS 1-3 11:40 a.m.-12:20 p.m.

Level 1 Must be age 5 the first day of the program in order to participate and be comfortable away from parent. Objectives: Supported floating on front and back, gliding, kicking, and alternating arm and leg action.

12:30-1:10 p.m.

Level 2 Objectives: Unsupported float, gliding, kicking on front and back without support, combined arm action with kick on front and back, treading water without support, personal safety and rescue skills.

1:20-2 p.m.

Level 3 Prerequisite: Must be comfortable in lap pool and possess Level 2 swim skills.

Objectives: Front crawl with breathing to the side, coordinated back crawl, elementary backstroke, scissor and dolphin kick, treading water skills, diving from the side of the pool and personal safety and rescue skills.

Room 215 $20/$40 Panther FIT Our Fitness Instructor Training (F.I.T.) program is designed to prepare the fitness enthusiast to lead safe and effective group exercise classes. Join us for a six hour in-person workshop to kickstart your instructor training.

After completion of the one-day workshop, we will set a schedule for participants to get hands on practice teaching a variety of formats, from Panther Sculpt to Cardio Kickboxing. This course will prepare you for a nationally accredited group fitness certification.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

Personal training sessions include cardiovascular exercises, muscle strengthening and endurance exercises, and flexibility exercises.

Nutrition consultation sessions include discussions about dietary habits and goals for nutritional intake based on individual nutritional needs and within the scope of practice of the nutrition practitioner. The Fitness Center reserves the right to make referrals out if client issues exceed the scope of available services or scope of practice of the practitioner.

REFUNDS

Refunds will be given for sessions if there is a documented medical issue that precluded provision of 24 hours’ notice of the need to cancel or reschedule or if the scheduled sessions are returned to the session pool for administrative purposes.

Studio B Free Roll and Release: Foam Rolling Techniques This one-day workshop will cover the basic techniques of foam rolling. Learn the trigger-point technique of systematic self-massage. Use it for your warm up, your cool down, or as a tool during your recovery days. Free, but registration is required.

FORFEIT FEE POLICY For league sports, teams will be required to pay a $30 fee if a team forfeits a game. If the team forfeits a game, the captain will be sent a notification through IMLeagues informing him/her that the team must make the $30 online payment in order to remain eligible to participate. If no forfeits occur, no payment is required.

• A $1 per item per day late fee is charged in addition to the daily rental fee. Exception: Bikes are charged $20 per day.

For a certification renewal, you can demonstrate practical skills to the on-duty climbing supervisor at no cost. Experienced climbers may take the written and practical tests without the clinic.

Experienced climbers may lead climb routes during normal hours.

You must follow the designated lead route. Ask about a Lead Climbing Certification Clinic to certify or challenge out. You must prove significant belay experience before taking the Lead Climbing Clinic. Cost: $5, $8, $10

The cave has both vertical and horizontal overhanging terrain.

Any skill level may use it in a “no ropes� bouldering format. It is located across from racquetball court #4 adjacent to the Climbing Wall. Check in with the Climbing Wall attendant.

Focus is on creative problem solving and effective communication. The experience will increase trust and enhance group cohesion. Programs are tailored to meet the needs of the group.

LOCATION Sites vary depending the group’s preference. Groups may choose facilities and grounds from our challenge course at Indian Creek Recreation Area, the downtown campus or off-campus locations.

Confirm all details two weeks in advance. A minimum of a 10 person charge is required but larger or smaller groups are easily accommodated. Sessions may range from two hours, half-day or full day.

Individual rooms or the entire lodge may be reserved by chartered student organizations and faculty or staff departments for university approved meetings. If you would like to host your event outside, we also have available for reservation a half acre event lawn.
