Membership is limited to faculty, staff, retirees, students and degree holding graduates of Georgia State University. Current students are members through their student fees.

All Children’s classes meet on Saturdays.

For ages 6-36 months; parent(s) must participate in the water with the child. This class teaches underwater acclimation while parents learn how to give their child a positive experience in the water.

PRESCHOOL 10:30-10:55 a.m.

Preschool 3 to 5 year olds who are new to the water will develop comfort in the water, learn water entry, bubble blowing, floating, kicking, underwater exploration and general water safety skills.

CHILDREN’S LEVELS 1-3 11-11:40 p.m.

Level 1 Must be age 5 the first day of the program in order to participate and be comfortable away from parent. Objectives: Supported floating on front and back, gliding, kicking, and alternating arm and leg action.

11:50 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Level 2 Objectives: Unsupported float, gliding, kicking on front and back without support, combined arm action with kick on front and back, treading water without support, personal safety and rescue skills.

12:40-1:20 p.m.

Level 3 Prerequisite: Must be comfortable in lap pool and possess Level 2 swim skills.

Objectives: Front crawl with breathing to the side, coordinated back crawl, elementary backstroke, scissor and dolphin kick, treading water skills, diving from the side of the pool and personal safety and rescue skills.

8/26-12/9 Swim the Beltline!

This new swim program challenges you to complete the length of the Atlanta beltline (36.3 miles) right here in the SRC pool over the course of the fall semester. Count your laps as you swim, kick, pull, or aquajog your way across the pool. Ask the lifeguards how you can log your distance. Prizes will be available for the three swimmers who swim the longest distance and also to anyone that completes the full 36.3 miles.

Personal training sessions include cardiovascular exercises, muscle strengthening and endurance exercises, and flexibility exercises.

Nutrition consultation sessions include discussions about dietary habits and goals for nutritional intake based on individual nutritional needs and within the scope of practice of the nutrition practitioner. The Fitness Center reserves the right to make referrals out if client issues exceed the scope of available services or scope of practice of the practitioner.

REFUNDS

Refunds will be given for sessions if there is a documented medical issue that precluded provision of 24 hours’ notice of the need to cancel or reschedule or if the scheduled sessions are returned to the session pool for administrative purposes.

CARRYING SESSIONS FORWARD ONE SEMESTER

A maximum of 3 sessions (sessions, consultations, tests) may be carried forward for one semester (spring to summer; summer to fall; fall to spring).

Sessions not used by the end of the second semester will be forfeited.

Studio B Belly Dance Belly Dance is comprised of the traditional dances of North Africa and the Middle East. Known for its graceful hip drops, rolls and pivots, this dance form utilizes muscle groups in the abdomen, pelvis, trunk, spine and neck, working with the body instead of against it. Belly dancing is based on movements that come naturally to the body.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP Kettle Bell Basics

Martial Arts Studio $5/$10 This One-Day Workshop will cover the foundations of Kettle Bell training with a focus on two major movements: Swing and the Turkish Get-Up. Train with a StrongFirst-certified Kettle Bell instructor and feel confident in your ability to safely incorporate kettle bells into your training. Open to those who are new to kettle bell and experienced lifters. This workshop is appropriate for all skill levels.

Studio B $10/$20 Tai Chi 6-Week Tai Chi uses yang-style 24 form as moving meditation. Tai Chi Chuan offers practitioners techniques useful in promoting relaxation, strength, balance, flexibility and healing. It incorporates slow-motion movements to balance and strengthen the body, while the mental concepts calm the emotions and reduce stress. Try Tai Chi on August 26 and September 9.

Meeting Room Panther FIT $20/$40 Our Fitness Instructor Training (F.I.T.) program is designed to prepare the fitness enthusiast to lead safe and effective group exercise classes. Join us for a six hour in-person workshop to kickstart your instructor training.

After completion of the one-day workshop, we will set a schedule for participants to get hands on practice teaching a variety of formats, from Panther Sculpt to Cardio Kickboxing. This course will prepare you for a nationally accredited group fitness certification.

On this adventure of a lifetime, we’ll be hiking, paddling, exploring, backpacking and camping in gorgeous desert landscapes, along canyon bluffs in primitive sites. You must follow the designated lead route. Ask about a Lead Climbing Certification Clinic to certify or challenge out. You must prove significant belay experience before taking the Lead Climbing Clinic. Refer to clinics page for scheduled class times.

The cave has both vertical and horizontal overhanging terrain.

Any skill level may use it in a “no ropes� bouldering format. It is located across from racquetball court #4 adjacent to the Climbing Wall. Check in with the Climbing Wall attendant.

Focus is on creative problem solving and effective communication. The experience will increase trust and enhance group cohesion. Programs are tailored to meet the needs of the group.

LOCATION Sites vary depending the group’s preference. Groups may choose facilities and grounds from our challenge course at Indian Creek Recreation Area, the downtown campus or off-campus locations.
