GHC Reagan topped the 2020 Grand Hills Bull Sale when onehalf interest and choice of possession sold for $40,000 to Cannon Charolais Ranch in Iowa. This calving ease sire is DNA tested homozygous polled and has a great look as you would expect from mating LT Blue Value to the fabulous LT Brenda 6120 Pld female, the Dam of Ledger. We believe he has the potential to produce banner winning show prospects and would be a nice mating to Outsider daughters.
This sire was bred by Schmidt Cattle Co and is now owned by Doll Charolais in North Dakota. An impressive bull with an outstanding EPD ranking. Top 10% in CE and extreme ratio of 116 in WW and YW. He’s got long progeny history of great calves.
Sale favorite! We bought this weaned bull from Jamie & Kay Fred’s Dispersal sale and he has continued to flourish. Out of sire GHC Reagan who originates from LT Bluegrass. Just a beautiful powerful bull all the way through. He crashes the charts on WW (752) and YW (1427). He has a smooth polled head, and he just expands all the way through. We love our Tank bulls and their sire is a Tank bull raised by us; Front-Line Tank 005. His unique pedigree is one everyone is after. DeBruycker on the sire’s side and LT on the dam’s side. His Dam: RSS Silver Light 610 is long time bull producer here at Rifle Creek and is Riley’s favorite cow. Her bulls are the top sellers at our sale year after year. We collected embryos from her this past spring and are excited to see those calves from donor cows. Front-line Tank is a bull that exceeds genetic merit. When you look at his EPDs is above average on all the charts. Top 30% CE & BW, top 45% WW, top 25% YW. We collected semen on him as a yearling and he collected above normal for his age at 573 units on his first collection. The eye appeal of his calf crop along with their dispositions, deep thick muscles and added growth makes these bulls an easy choice and customer favorite. There is a reason customers like Tank Bulls and we’ve made them better with Front-Line Tank 005.

Out of an AI sire LT Authority, he has a lower birth weight but big growth in weaning and yearling. Out of a first calf heifer who came from our long-time sire Pendleton. If you need a bull that will be easy calving on cows but will smash the scales come sale time, give this bull a look.
Calving Ease Direct (CE) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births in first calf heifers. A higher value indicates greater calving ease. It predicts the average difference in unassisted births with which a sire’s calves will be born when bred to first-calf heifers.
Birth Weight EPD (BW) The expected difference in average birth weight (pounds) of progeny. Birth weight reflects prenatal growth.
Weaning Weight EPD (WW) The expected difference in average weaning weight of calves. The evaluation reflects the genetic influence on pre-weaning growth rate.
Yearling Weight EPD (YW) The expected difference in average yearling weight of progeny. The evaluation reflects genetic influence on both pre-weaning and post-weaning growth rate.
Maternal Milk EPD (Milk) The genetic ability of a sire’s or dam’s daughters to express in pounds of weaning weight in her calves due to her maternal ability through mothering instinct and milk.
Calving Ease Maternal (MCE) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births in first calf daughters. A higher value indicates greater calving ease. It predicts the average difference in unassisted births with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires.
Total Maternal EPD (MTL) A value to predict the weaning weight performance of calves from a animal’s daughters due to genetics for growth and maternal ability. Total Maternal is calculated by adding ½ the WW EPD to the Maternal Milk EPD.
Terminal Sire Index (TSI) The AICA Terminal Sire Index (TSI) is a formal method of combing Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) – BW, WW, YW, REA, CW, MARB and FAT – into one single value on which to base selection decisions. The TSI uses estimates of the genetic relationships between traits with an economic default value based on three year rolling USDA data.
We chose LT Long Distance as an AI sire for our higher birth weight cows to balance them out. He is a gold wreath calving ease sire and his progeny are known for their docile temperaments, sound structure, vigor at birth, and lots of eye appeal. We also liked that he is used for improving feed and quality of marbling merit. Ranking in the top 15% for CE and Milk and top 9% for BW in the breed.
