Similar to the non-composite steel frames, a composite steel frame system utilizes a series of parallel steel beams extending in the short direction that carry the deck slab.

However, in the composite steel frame system the concrete deck slab is connected to the beams via structural connections called shear studs. This comprises a oneway system that is most efficient for spanning Figure 3 rectangular bays.

Service General Notes Elevator The structural system was choosen based on the span range in Figure 1.

Being that one of the main compenents of the building is the court areas, longer spans were more more suitable however the buildings verticality was W18X40 also taken into consideration. For this reason steel was choosen as main material.
