Evaluz Maria Trinidad Francis was born October 20, 1932 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to José and Laura Trinidad. She married Roberto Francis in 1951 and had five children with him. They came to Brooklyn, New York after 1953 and later moved to Queens, New York. Eva loved helping people, especially children. Her love for children led her to working as a nurse’s aide and caring for many children over her lifetime as a foster parent. During that time, she adopted eight more children which three of which were severely handicap, and three others, who had some type of mental disability. Eva is survived by 11 of her 13 children (Jesus Sr, Laura, Robert, Ricardo, Karl, Tracy, Timothy, Kevin, Paris, Ada, and Michele), two siblings (Wilfredo and Virginia) and her faithful companion/caretaker/son, Gregory. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to give a heartfelt “thank you” to Gregory Medley. Known to the family as Peanut, he sacrificed his livelihood, time, and body to care for our matriarch, Evaluz Francis. He was not just her son but her closest confidant, the one person she trusted with anything and everything. Even in her deepest state of Alzheimer’s, she called out his name. His name was the one name she never forgot, even with her last breath, which he watched her take. Because she never forgot, we did not want to forget to give our gratitude for doing something many of us were unable to do. We also like to recognize her son Robert Francis, and her granddaughters Tawana Francis, Qrenzina Francis, and Evelyn Francis for their sacrifice and daily caregiving.
