aboutme
I am currently in my fourth year of studies at Kansas State University’s Interior Architecture college. I have been able to expand my knowledge in design through interior architecture projects, furniture builds, and some product design. Before college, I found myself deciding between art school and what else could be out there. I always had an interest in realism painting, especially of environments and buildings. Because of this, I found myself looking into design and finding new ways to express my creativity. Throughout my education, I have been able to approach design from a different perspective with my experience with creating and appreciating artwork.

Coffee Table
FurnitureDesign
Spring2022
This Scandinavian Modern inspired coffee table was an introduction into woodworking. This is a basic coffee table that not only is intended for use, but to also be a sculptural feature of the space.

Concept: Outreach
This course tasked students with creating a coffee table inspired by a design movement of choice. The Scandinavian Modern movement was interesting to navigate as the forms can be so simple, so this was a challenge to try to create something unlike most pieces. Scandinavian furniture celebrates simplicity, organic nature, and joinery. These all took main stage in inspiring the direction of this coffee table design.

Fabrication
From picking out and purchasing the wood to final coats of finish, the fabrication process proved itself to be fulfilling by the end. It was a challenge running into issues, but it made for new opportunities in the design.

Concept: Modularity - Plant Care

This project began with the mission of being able to take on the many needs of those with a green thumb. With simple geometries and forms, the furniture set’s simplicity allows for the plants to be the focal point. Bright colors are featured to introduce a playful side, complimenting the green hues of the plants.

Fabrication

The fabrication process included a lot of back and forth between metal and woodworking. Being able to balance time management with the many steps involved in making a multi piece furniture set became one of the toughest challenges.
