Exchange student interview (Xiao Chan Zong, Amanda) Q Could you briefly tell us about yourself? A I am Amanda(Xiao Chan Zong) from China, and I'm in my Junior year. Now, I am an exchange student of KAIST, and I am enjoying my life here.

Q How did you get to know KAIST, and what brought you to this place? A There are three reasons for me coming to KAIST. First, I got to know KAIST because my home university has an exchange program between KAIST. The second reason is because my major is Electrical Engineering. I found out Electrical Engineering in KAIST is very famous for its good quality of education and research. Moreover, I was so surprised by the rapid economic development that Korea has accomplished. Everybody knows that it is very hard to make any advances in Europe countries now, and even if there are some advances, there tends to be some troubles along with it such as problems of the EURO. So Korea is a place where, I think, has great opportunities for students like me. Those are the three main reasons why I came here.

Q Are you enjoying your stay at KAIST? (Tell us freely how you feel about lectures, school mates, food, dorms, and etc. of KAIST) A Actually, I do enjoy my life in KAIST. The professors are all excellent. I love their teaching styles. They teach us how to cook instead of just feeding us with information and knowledge. I think this is the reason why KAIST students are so creative! I get so much help from so many people around me that I almost forgot that I am an exchange student. I must say that Korean people are so kind and warm hearted. Because of them, I never feel homesick, and I really appreciate all their supports including help from daily life to help studying in KAIST. It seems that Korean food is a little spicy for certain foreigners, but for me, it is ok. I love traditional Korean food and I want to know more about Korean style. Currently, I am on my way to explore Korean life. As for the dormitory, I have to say, it is just great! I live in E8, and it seems to be one of the oldest dormitories in KAIST. It has no elevators and restrooms inside the rooms. But it is good enough for me, and I do love my Korean roommate. She is the typical Korean girl that I always thought about and I learned so much more about Korean traditions from her.

Q What are the strengths of Electrical Engineering(EE), KAIST? What about weaknesses? (Compared to the school you came from) A There is no doubt that the professors of KAIST are all excellent in their profession and I also heard that they have profound experiences in research. I believe that they will be great role models for students of KAIST. As for the weakness... I think EE, KAIST is also very famous for its assignments, assignments, and assignments. (laugh out loud) I don't know whether it is a strength or weakness.

Q A

Q What do you suggest for a better Electrical Engineering(EE), KAIST? (Dual degree programs or so on. Please support your ideas in detail.) A More communication is essential. I think students are all very excellent in KAIST, so if students have opportunities to have more group projects and more communication about their thoughts and opinions, I think that EE, KAIST will advance a lot more.

Q A

Q If you had the chance to study more in EE, KAIST in the later future, would you come back? A I am actually thinking of having my master's degree here, because I love KAIST and I love Korea. I think EE, KAIST is good enough for both learning specific knowledge and researching. So if I have a chance, I would love to come back to KAIST.

Q A

Thank you again for your kind answers Amanda! I really appreciate your sincerity, and please understand that I made some changes in words. Do not worry however, because I am sure that I delivered everything that you wanted to say. I wish you have a great time in the rest of your stay at KAIST!
