Statement “Everything that is absorbed and registered in your mind adds to the collection of ideas stored in the memory: a sort of library that you can consult whenever a problem arises. So, essentially the more you have seen, experienced and absorbed, the more points of reference you will have to help you decide which direction to take: your frame of reference expands.” (Hertzberger, H., Lessons for Students of Architecture in Lawson, B., p.113) Hertzberger does not distinguish between the conscious or unconscious memory. Our consciousness consists sense-impressions that are more or less processed. These, are all a part of the creation, of a sensation through which we experience the world. In that sense, the inspiration that I work with, aren´t one-sided, but a collection of pictures, experiences and emotions through the past 30 years. It’s the constant impressions such as smells, the weather, sociale relations, observations, experiences and emotions that together creates the fundament and new frames for a creation-proces. My intention is to work from the assumption that “everything is inspiration, everything is possible”. The work with, and around the designfield, should in my case take root in “intuition and need”. Intuition; the immediate enlightenment that take you to action, and the need to work with a special mood, emotion, material or certain people. The designwork focuses on creation rather than stagnation. This method in the creative work, requires to be able to invalidate the need to have a frame, and a frame in a certain field of design. I try to dissolve the normative frame and instead work with the fusion between fashiondesign, art, styling and scenography. I try to let the intuition invite for creation. Udstillede projekter Composing the between: This project evolves around the gap between functional fashiondesign and more expressive and decorative garments that relate to show-pieces. I have chosen to name this series of garments “body compositions,” rather than use the term “collection.” The mood derive from a visual moodboards and words such as ‘melancholy,’ ‘darkness,’ ‘violent nature,’ poetic,’ ‘feminine’ and ‘magic. These words were central to the hole proces. It was important, that the final compositions, would have a poetic strenght through the way all the elements where merged together. I worked with various techniques and elements such as fur with cracked plaster silver twill with cracked plaster, bead-bonnets, huge pleats and the (un)subtle covering of the female face. The techniques were developed by hundreds of experiments on how plaster would act in combination with various fabrics and surfaces. I have merged geometric shapes made of fabric-sketches and selected material such as fur, skin, and print, using photoshop. In this way, I have managed to create compositions that relate to the body from an approach as a bricoleur – from French anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss notion of the term. The visual inspiration and the final photographs should be seen as a narrative.
