N Stelarc is een Australische performancekunstenaar. Het uitgangspunt van zijn denken is dat het lichaam een verouderde, achterhaalde machine is. De prothesen, robots of ingrepen die hij ontwerpt, beschouwt hij als een uitbreiding van de capaciteit van de lichamelijke machine. In zijn lecture-demonstration zal hij ingaan op drie van zijn kunstwerken. F L’Australien Stelarc est un artiste de performance. Le point de départ de sa pensée s’appuie sur l’idée que le corps est une machine surannée, dépassée. Il considère les prothèses, robots et autres interventions qu’il conçoit comme une extension de la capacité de la machine corporelle. Dans sa lecture-démonstration, il se penche sur trois de ses œuvres d’art. E Stelarc is an Australian performance artist. The basic principle of his ideas is that the body is an obsolete, outdated machine. He regards the protheses, robots or interventions he designs as an extension of the bodily machine’s capacity.
