A
new restaurant will open in the former location of Fred’s Mobil service station at 574 Green Bay Road in Winnetka, in late August to early September. Aptly named Fred’s Garage, the restaurant will be operated by the owners of the popular Ten Mile House in Evanston. “Our focus is to get Fred’s Garage open,” Robert LaPata told DailyNorthShore. The new restaurant will have indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a walk-up window for customers who prefer to grab a snack instead of ordering from the full-service menu. The extensive patio space will also include games for customers to play while they have a drink or wait for their food. Similar to Ten Mile House, the menu will be contemporary American that is accessible to many ages and demographics, LaPata said. Continued on PG 12

Lake Forest Sportscars Chief Operating Officer and amateur boxer Adam Mancuso cruised to a victory in the ring last weekend in Highwood, stopping reigning Golden Gloves winner Dave Pineda by technical knockout at the 34-second mark of the first round. The 39-year-old father of three daughters (with his wife, physician Shayna) and two-time Golden Gloves champion (Masters division, in 2015 and 2016) fought in the main event at the 12-fight “Rumble at the Highwood Rec Center” on July 22. Mancuso—a Lake Forest resident and a 1996 Lake Forest High School graduate with an extensive background in martial arts—improved to 4-0 in the ring. Adam Mancuso PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOEL LERNER
