orth Shore residents can get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit without traveling to the city to see the green-dyed Chicago River. The area’s favorite Irish Tenor, Paddy Homan, will perform “Raised on Songs and Stories” at the Wilmette Theatre on Friday, March 10. “I have a love of music and behind every song is a story,” Homan told DailyNorthShore. Homan moved to the United States 10 years ago but grew up in County Cork, Ireland and his voice is still thick with his country’s brogue. He originally moved to Chicago to work as a social worker but has since moved into fundraising for Lutheran Life Communities. His job is to raise funds for residents who have outlived their assets, but he still finds time for music. “I am grateful that they let me

ees are responsible for one third of the food people consume, and their population has been in a nosedive for the last 20 years. Jess Ray, a Mettawa resident who keeps bees and grows most of the food he and his wife eat on their North Shore acreage, is trying to do something about the problem, beyond his efforts to increase the bee population. Ray has organized a daylong beekeeping seminar from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18 on the campus of W.W. Grainger Company on Route 60 in Lake Forest. The goal is to educate a gathering of between 150 and 200 people about the care of bees. “One third of every piece of
