Police, FBI Go After Car Thieves BY STEVE SADIN DAILYNORTHSHORE.COM

A

new, four-county police task force that includes the FBI has identified suspects in dozens of car thefts and burglaries on the North Shore since early June, according to Lake Forest Police Commander Craig Lepkowski. Sharing information among its members, the task force is gathering evidence and meeting regularly with hopes of issuing and executing warrants, Lepkowski said. “They’re (gang members) coming out of Chicago,” said Lepkowski of the suspects. “We’ve identified 46 Terror and the Lafa Gang. They’re part of the Gangster Disciples. There are other gangs affiliated with them too.” The task force includes members of more than 30 local police departments in four counties—Lake, Cook, DuPage and Will—including nine from the North Shore, the Illinois Continued on PG 12
