Lake Bluff Residents Sound Off on Block 3 Proposal BY STEVE SADIN DAILYNORTHSHORE.COM

LAKE BLUFF— proposed three-story, 16-unit condominium project on Block 3 of Lake Bluff ’s central business district ran into strong criticism from a posse of residents and some officials during a public hearing on June 15 before the Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals. The PCZBA continued consideration of the application of Lake Bluff-based Roanoke Group to construct two buildings containing eight condos each to give the developer an opportunity to revise its plans based on comments at the public hearing. There were more than 100 people in the standing room only crowd at Village Hall. More were watching across the street on a television screen in the Public Safety Building, according to Brandon Stanick, assistant to the village administrator. They were

pen-air farmers markets are one of the best things about summer on the North Shore, with their abundance of fresh fruits, veggies, herbs, baked goods, and so much more. And fortunately there’s a market almost every day of the week. Here’s a roundup.

HIGHLAND PARK: The 36th Annual Ravinia Farmers Market will be held Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 26 rain or shine. The Market will operate on Dean Avenue between Roger Williams Avenue and St. Johns Avenue at Jens Jensen Park across from the old train station in Ravinia District. Click here to read about the Ravinia Farmers Market. There also is a new Artisan Market on Thursday evenings from 3 to 8 p.m. through August 18 located in Jens Jenson Park. HIGHWOOD: Highwood Evening Markets — This vibrant party in the park has become a tradition for friends and family seeking great food, entertainment, and shopping. Highwood Evening Markets will be held Wednesdays from 4 to 9 p.m. through Aug. 31. in Everts Park. Guests are able to enjoy dinner and cocktails, while exploring the market’s many vendors and listening to live music acts. Everts Park is located on Highwood Avenue west of Green Bay.

NORTHBROOK: Nor thbrook Far mers Market is more than a farmers market! Handicapped accessible, it is a community-gathering place with several Special Event Days for all ages and interests. Shop for locally grown, inseason fruits and vegetables, as well as delicious artisan creations, and then head over to

the downtown stores and boutiques. The Markets are held Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22 to October 19 at Cherry Lane & Meadow Roads in Northbrook. LAKE FOREST: The 6th Annual City of Lake Forest Open Air Market is held on Saturdays through October

8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year, the city is celebrating American Farmers. The Market commits to providing the best local, fresh, healthy food to the community and the surrounding area. Farmto-table vendors provide vegetables, fruit, artisan breads, jams, and honey and specialty items. Community Days are the first Saturday each month, starting

in July. Non-profit organizations are invited to join the market, first-come, first-served by making a reservation with the market manager. Due to popular demand, Community Days will limit non-Open Air Market Vendors to 10 per four Saturdays, the first Saturday of every Continued on PG 12
