The new wellbeing trends

A (green) wall will save us. At least, that’s the claim of biophilic architecture, according to which having a green wall in the house provides a boost of wellbeing.

And not just because plants are natural air purifiers. As maintained by the theory of “restorativeness”, living immersed in nature, and spending time taking care of it, helps to improve attention, concentration and creativity; it also lowers stress levels and promotes vitality and a good mood.

The latest report of the Global Wellness Summit, which every year describes the most significant wellness trends, confirms that contact with nature is one of the best ways to feel better. Upcoming trends include growing a vegetable garden, as well as spending more and more time outdoors, trying to get back in touch with the land.

If nature is to invade houses and terraces, at an urban level wellness focuses on accessibility and inclusivity. Spas, saunas and baths will become an increasingly common habit. Gradually, we will see emerge among the buildings new green spaces, city parks and outdoor fitness areas.

A green revolution that has already begun. At London’s The Tide, the new park on the River Thames, people can practice meditation or take free yoga lessons. Madrid is carrying out a 100 million euro project to create 14 hubs around the city designed for practising sports activities outside conventional gyms. In Milan, the Forestami project aims to plant 3 million trees by 2030, and the Vertical Forest, two greenery-covered buildings designed by Stefano Boeri, is a source of inspiration for architecture around the world. Also, the public debate about depaving is a highly topical issue.

As far as wellbeing of the “person” is concerned, Pinterest estimates that in 2023 it will increasingly involve hair care. Or, rather, care of the head, through natural treatments, scalp cleansing and massage techniques that will be the innovation of our beauty routine. Our aim? To neutralize the negative effects of stress on our wellbeing, giving an energetic boost to the growth of strong, healthy hair.

As if to say, wellbeing can only start from the head of each one of us.
