Leader: Unless the Lord builds the house, People: The people who build it labor in vain.
Leader: Unless the Lord guards the city, People: The watchman keeps awake in vain.
Leader: It is vain for you to rise early, to retire late, and to eat the bread of painful labors. People: God gives rest to His people.
Leader: Today is a day of rest. Therefore, let us worship the Lord.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.
*GLORY BE TO THE FATHER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Spirit of God, too often we cut ourselves off from the power of Your presence, seeking fulfillment in everything but Your love. We know that You have given each of us gifts and abilities to help make our world a better place, but we often use them only for our own benefit. Teach us to work together and to appreciate each other’s abilities. We can change the world through Your power and gifts. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (1 John 1:9)
Leader: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon.
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
SCRIPTURE Romans 1:1-17
Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God!

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
OFFERTORY Reformation Cantata Chancel Choir and Orchestra
Lift your voices, let us sing praises to our gracious King! From His Spirit to our hearts, sweet assurance He imparts.
Refrain:
Christ has saved us, Christ alone; by His blood our sin atoned. All the glory to Him alone! Christ has saved us, Christ alone!
No more fear and no more shame, Satan’s lies are all the same. If the guilt of sin delay with assurance, we can say. Refrain
When no more this life we see, then in heaven we shall be; There, we’ll join the countless host and this shall be our boast. Refrain
FAITH ALONE - Sola Fide
Our Faith in God Alone
We may not see Him, this God who made us. The love and grace we know within are His; We are believers in Christ, our Savior, Who gave His life a sacrifice for us.
Refrain:
Our faith in God will lead us forward, Forward in the cause of Christ alone. Believing God will lead us forward, We will put our faith in God alone.
We are his children; God is our Father.
May others see the light of Christ in us.
He is the power; He is the glory.
To Him be all the praise forevermore! Refrain
Ev’ry eye shall see Him; ev’ry knee shall bow; Ev’ry tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! Refrain
GRACE ALONE - Sola Gratia
Mary McDonald
S.W. Brown and J. Nelson Grace Alone
Ev’ry promise we can make, ev’ry prayer and step of faith;
Ev’ry diff’rence we will make is only by His grace.
Ev’ry mountain we will climb, ev’ry ray of hope we shine;
Ev’ry blessing left behind is only by His grace.
Refrain:
Grace alone which God supplies; strength unknown He will provide, Christ in us, our Cornerstone, we will go forth in grace alone.
Ev’ry soul we long to reach, ev’ry heart we hope to teach;
Ev’rywhere we share His peace is only by His grace.
Ev’ry loving word we say, ev’ry tear we wipe away;
Ev’ry sorrow turned to praise is only by His grace. Refrain Amazing grace, amazing grace.
SCRIPTURE ALONE - Sola Scriptura
God’s Word Shall Stand Forever
God’s Word shall stand forever! God’s Word shall stand forever! For feelings come and feelings go, and feelings are deceiving; My warrant is the Word of God, naught else is worth believing.
Refrain:
God’s Word shall stand forever, the Bible shall prevail; God’s Word shall stand forever, His truth can never, never fail.
M. Luther and F. López
Though all my heart should feel condemned for want of some sweet token, There is One greater than my heart whose Word cannot, cannot be broken, Whose Word cannot be broken.
I’ll trust in God’s unchanging Word ‘til soul and body sever: For though all things shall pass, shall pass away, His Word shall stand forever.
Refrain
God’s Word shall stand!
