Leader: We lie down and sleep; People: We wake again, because the Lord sustains us. Leader: From the Lord comes deliverance.
People: May your blessing be on your people. Leader: Let us seek the Lord in prayer.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.
*GLORY BE TO THE FATHER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Like so many others, Lord, there are times when we sing Your praises, but follow from a distance. We welcome You as long as You fit our expectations and answer our every whim. We are quick to point out the shortcomings of others, so as to excuse our own faults. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to become true disciples of Christ. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (1 John 1:9)
Leader: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon.
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
SCRIPTURE
Leader: This is the word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God!

Refrain:
High upon a mountain, in a quiet place, They were prayin’, prayin’, prayin’. Peter, James and John with Jesus in that place, They were prayin’, prayin’, prayin’.
When there came forth from the face of Jesus A brilliant light gleaming like the sun. His raiment all aglow, and white as the whitest snow With radiance brightly shining. Refrain

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

High upon a mountain Peter, James and John Heard the pow’r of Christ proclaimed: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased; My beloved Son in whom I’m pleased.” Refrain
