Leader: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast, and it is not proud.
People: Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it does not keep a record of wrongs.
Leader: Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
People: It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.
Leader: My friends, God is love. Therefore, let us seek the Lord in prayer.

OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, be gracious to us, for we have sinned against You. In our busyness we have failed to call on You. In our self-centeredness we have ignored Your hurting people. We have uttered empty words and wearied You with empty deeds. We have been unwilling to see our own iniquity and have not dared to believe that You can heal us. Come to us now to forgive and make new. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (1 John 1:9)
Leader: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
