e are sad to report September will be our final issue of Triad Happy Tails Magazine. We are shutting down after eight plus years of publishing, which we were only able to do because of the generous support of our advertisers. Because of them, we were able to provide free space to our area shelters and rescues. A big THANK YOU to each advertiser! Please check out these wonderful businesses on page six. It has been our honor to work with so many In memory of Dixie and Pumpkin, our inspiration great local rescues, shelters and groups over the years. You have inspired us, made us smile and yes, brought a few tears. But, we know the world is a better place because of what you and countless other unselfish individuals have done for our animal friends. We hope to continue our mission by volunteering and doing pro bono projects in the future. Finally, we won’t say, “Goodbye” we’ll just say, “Happy Trails, until we meet again.” Keep up the good fight,

ON THE COVER: Piper - she’s a ten pound Wire Haired Terrier mix. She came from a home where she was not exposed to a lot of people therefore she is a tiny bit shy at first. This is the reason we are requiring that all children in the home be ten and over. Also, Piper needs to go to a home with a fenced yard for her safety. Piper is super sweet and loves her doggie friends. Piper is not fully housetrained but she is coming along well on that. ARFP adopts, and home delivers, within a 300 mile round trip of Greensboro, NC. Visit www.arfpnc.com to see more great animals for adoption!

Vet’s Corner Melina Efthimiadis, DVM (“Dr. E”) owns Mebane Pet Clinic. She graduated as class valedictorian from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr. E has a special interest in abdominal ultrasound imaging. She also has strong interests in internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, dermatology, oncology, geriatrics and ophthalmology. When she is not working, Dr. E and her husband enjoy horseback riding, hiking, camping and home improvement projects. They share their home with five horses, Melina Efthimiadis, DVM three dogs, five cats and several chickens.

COMMON HOUSEHOLD DANGERS! There are many items in our homes that we may not realize can be deadly to our pets. This includes various plants, foods, medications, vitamins, rat bait, insect poisons, antifreeze (dogs will even eat the dirt it was poured into!), and various objects such as button batteries, fishhooks, socks and underwear. Read on for a few of the more common toxicities I see in my practice, but for a more complete list please visit:

www.aspcapetinsurance.com/ 101-things-you-didnt-know-could-harm-your-pet/

LILIES Cats can develop rapid and severe kidney failure from exposure to various species of lilies. Exposure can occur from chewing the leaves or flowers or even just sniffing the pollen. Signs of lily toxicity include vomiting, lethargy and decreased appetite can be seen within two hours of contact. Sometimes the signs may temporarily subside but return within 12 to 24 hours as kidney damage progresses. This is why it is imperative to seek veterinary attention right away. Intravenous fluid therapy instituted soon after ingestion is associated with improved outcomes.

GRAPES, RAISINS AND CURRANTS Ingestion of grapes, raisins, sultanas, and Zante currants can cause acute kidney failure in dogs. Symptoms usually begin within several hours of ingestion. Vomiting is the most common early symptom and although a very vague and non-specific sign, it should not be ignored. With prompt examination and blood tests, kidney failure will be diagnosed and fluid therapy can be started right away, giving the best chance for recovery.

XYLITOL Xylitol is a popular low calorie sugar substitute. It is used in a variety of food and non-food products, including candy, gum, baked goods, baking mixes, jelly, condiments, syrup, flavored drinks, drink powders, peanut butter, nut butter, protein bars, protein

10

September 2018 www.facebook.com/triadhappytails

powders, toothpaste, oral hygiene products, medications, medication bases (e.g. elixirs, syrups), vitamins, supplements, cosmetics, deodorant, skin gels, sunscreen, and hair care products. Some oral health care items for dogs contain xylitol but in low enough levels to be safe when used as directed. If a dog ingests a product containing xylitol, a rapid and severe drop in blood sugar occurs within 30-60 minutes, leading to a variety of symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, unsteadiness, restlessness, collapse, seizures, and/or coma. Serious liver damage can occur within 12-72 hours after ingesting xylitol and some dogs will develop severe liver damage without ever displaying previous signs of low blood sugar. Quick treatment by a veterinarian significantly improves the prognosis.

NON-STEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES (NSAIDS) and TYLENOL® Common human NSAIDs include active ingredients such as ibuprofen and naproxen sodium. Examples include Advil®, Aleve® and Motrin®. Ingestion can result in gastric ulceration or even acute kidney failure. Tylenol can cause liver damage in dogs and severe blood damage in cats. Never give these medications to your pets for pain - always call your vet for advice.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY PET INGESTS A TOXIN? Call and go to your veterinarian or emergency veterinarian! Quick induction of vomiting, administration of a decontaminant like activated charcoal, gastric lavage and intravenous fluids are often the keys to surviving a toxic exposure. Also you can call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at: (888) 426-4435.

Lady Bird. Say hello to Lady Bird. She was left at a shelter after being hit by a car, and was terribly shy and scared when we picked her up. The amount of progress she has made since she got here is nothing short of incredible. She is crate and leash-trained and is such a little sweetheart! Once she trusts you, she is a total love bug. She is spayed and microchipped and ready to make someone a great pet! If you are interested in adopting Lady Bird, please email us at: thefortrescue@gmail.com. n

Pepper is a female Rat Terrier/Jack Russell mix found running around neighborhoods. She is estimated to be around 3 years old. She came to us heartworm positive but has been treated and is now healthy and ready for her new forever home! She was definitely someone’s house dog as she makes herself at home and also loves to ride in the car! She is very attached to her humans, so a home where she would be the only pet would be best for her. She has been spayed, up-todate on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention, and has been Spay Stokes microchipped. She walks well on a leash, knows how to sit and loves to give kisses! Email us at: arsc2004@gmail.com. Her adoption fee is $150.00. n

Cover Story

Who Knew? By Sharon Gray, Director Animal Rescue and Foster Program

W

ho knew how many homeless dogs and cats a gently used purses sale would help? We didn’t! Over ten years ago when this event began, the Animal Rescue & Foster Program (ARFP) had no idea how many gently used purses there were in the Triad. Who knew? We decided that a date close to Valentine’s Day might work for our first-ever purse sale because loved ones might be feeling more generous during that month, and might even come and purchase a gift from our sale. Little did we know what a successful fundraiser this purse sale would become. We reserved the fellowship hall at Sedgefield Presbyterian Church. The church immediately supported our mission and they started collecting purses for us. We were able to get local businesses on board and soon had collection boxes in several locations. Fast forward about six years later and we found out that Loving Pet Inn Adoptions, another local rescue, was holding a gently used shoe sale. Well, HELLO, shoes and purses, purses and shoes! What a great marriage! I approached their director, Dara Lamberson, and we put our heads together and decided to do it! Thus was born the Purse and Shoe Sale to benefit homeless animals in our community. After two years we asked the church if we could grow and reserve their hall twice a year and that was how our Fall Purse and Shoe Sale was born. The next sale is September 22nd from 8am-1pm with our Sneak Peek Preview being the night before from 6-8pm. The Sneak Peek Preview is a $10 per adult evening that includes finger foods, beverages, desserts, plus an opportunity to shop. There are purses of every color, luggage, backpacks, wallets, men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes and boots. All are new or gently used. The sale is always held at Sedgefield Presbyterian Church, located at 4216 Wayne Road in Greensboro. Shoes and purses, etc, can all be donated at 711 Milner Drive in Greensboro or at 820 Gallimore Dairy Road in High Point year round. We never stop collecting to help more homeless animals!

Triad Happy Tails (THT) has been an advocate for rescues and homeless animals in our community for eight years. ARFP has been privileged to be a part of this wonderful magazine from the first issue. That is 576 puppies and kittens that THT has allowed ARFP to promote to adoptive homes. This publication will be greatly missed in the rescue world. Thank you Jennifer Frazier and Deb Printup for birthing THT and allowing it to help so many rescues and thousands of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens.

GUILFORD COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER 336.641.3400 / www.myguilford.com/animal-shelter

Chica Boo, A004713, is a

Hailamo

is about 1-½ years old, and a very sweet Boxer(?) mix, weighing in around 41 lbs. Hailamo is quite a happy-go-lucky dog, very friendly, likes people, high-energy, and all puppy. Hailamo’s motto is “Let’s go hiking!” Hailamo’s adoption fee is $50, and covers his neuter, all up-to-date vaccinations, and microchipping. AND he is heartworm-negative.

lovely white, spayed female, Boxermix, about 6 years old. She loves peanut butter and treats, going for walks (and sniffing enthusiastically on them!), giving kisses (bring a small hand towel), and knows the commands “sit,” “down,” and “place.” Chica Boo is dog selective, so the shelter recommends that potential adopters bring their own pet (if they are looking for a second dog) to meet her. Chica Boo is heartworm positive and is eligible for reimbursement from GCAS for a portion of the cost of the heartworm treatment at the adopter’s veterinarian. Contact Guilford County Animal Shelter, 336.641.3400, for more information. Her adoption fee of $50 covers her spay, all up-to-date vaccinations and microchipping. n

Come meet Hailamo at the Guilford County Animal Shelter today! n

Meet Ross & Bethany!

Runner

went on an outing recently with a shelter volunteer and behaved like a perfect gentleman! He rode well in her car, walked nicely on the leash, and paid no attention to other dogs in Petsmart. He is a handsome Brindle Pit mix, approximately 5 years old, and weighs about 60 lbs. Runner is neutered, up-to-date on his shots and is microchipped. He is heartworm positive, so the adopter would need to contact their vet about getting the treatment for him. However, Guilford County Animal Shelter does have a program for varying amounts of financial reimbursement once the adopted shelter dog has completed the treatment. Following the treatment to kill the heartworms, Runner would need to be on heartworm preventative for life. Adoption fee is $50. Meet Runner at the Guilford County Animal Shelter today! n

Holmes,

a GCAS favorite, has been at GCAS since April 29th. He is a wonderful boy, who is very affectionate, likes other dogs, and especially people! He is a bit excited when he first gets out of his kennel but soon settles down and enjoys his walks. Holmes, a brindle and white retriever mix is about 5 years old and weighed 56 lbs. at last weigh-in. Holmes’ adoption fee is $50, a terrific low cost for a truly amazing dog; it covers his neuter, all up-to-date vaccinations, and his microchipping. He is also heartworm positive. The same information regarding the condition for Runner also applies to Holmes, including reimbursement for completion of heartworm treatment and the need for monthly heartworm preventative. Meet him today at the Guilford County Animal Shelter. n

Grooming Your Pet

Why Groom Your Cat? By Hayley Keyes, NCMG, ICMG, CMCG Nanhall Pet Spa

“What do you mean you groom cats? Don’t they groom themselves?” This is a question that pet groomers hear regularly. In recent years, more groomers have taken on the challenge of caring for feline grooming needs. There are over 80 million owned cats in the United States. While not all of them will require professional grooming in their nine lifetimes, many do. Take a cat that has long flowing hair, it is impossible for the kitty to comb itself! If you have a long-haired cat, then your feline is at risk for developing matted fur because it will get tangled or knotted. Taking time to brush a long-haired cat, like a Himalayan, is important and the best way to prevent matted fur from forming over time. When dirt gets trapped in their hair it becomes harder to remove or brush out which causes matted hair. Cat skin is delicate and thin so pulling or brushing it continuously can be very painful and uncomfortable for your feline. Cats are obsessive groomers and spend about 50% of their day licking and caressing their fur and skin. Cats groom not just for appearances, but also to keep cool and calm during the day. Here are the areas of your cat’s body where they have difficulty in grooming themselves: the belly, shoulders, back, and even their genitals. While cats are certainly flexible, issues such as weight, age, or health factors can compromise their ability to stay clean. Without further ado, below are five reasons to regularly groom your pet.

Bonding Cats are certainly selective in their cuddling and socialization, so brushing your feline friend allows you to become part of a bonding ritual. You will bond with your cat in new ways while your cat gets used to being handled, petted and spoiled. Brushing your pet’s hair each evening can help relax you and your pet. Your pet will get accustomed to you while you lavish it with attention, de-tangle its hair, and remove any debris from its coat. This is especially true for clipping the nails of your cat. Performing the chore weekly, or at least every other week, will make it easier in the long run to care for your animal’s feet while also saving your sofa!

Shedding and Matting Shedding is a major issue that can be relieved with regular grooming. While not all shedding can be completely avoided, daily brushing and monthly baths will help cut back on the need to vacuum the carpet. A decrease in shedding will be noticed when you brush your cat. Brushing also

18

September 2018 www.facebook.com/triadhappytails

stimulates oil glands in the animal’s skin that help keep it healthy. Sometimes it is easier and even better to have your pet groomed by a professional. A trained professional will know the proper way to groom your pet and: • Provide needed skin and coat care for cats of all ages (especially important for elderly or obese pets which often have trouble self-grooming) • Help minimize shedding hair and resulting hairballs • Maintain long coats and prevent severe matting • Check for and treat parasite infestations • Monitor general health and condition of the cat • Remove mats and tangles caused by neglect of the coat • Create attractive styles and easy to maintain trims • Assist in treating diagnosed medical conditions such as stud tail and feline acne

Cough Up That Hairball! When your cat starts meowing loudly and making strange retchinglike noises, you know a not so handsome hairball is coming up. (It usually happens as you’re cooking!) Having your cat groomed regularly ensures the shedding hair is removed to help this issue.

Medical Problems Some actions, such as checking an animal’s eyes, teeth, and ears regularly, can help you avoid major medical bills. Many cat and dog breeds are susceptible to illnesses that can be caught early simply by paying attention to your pet and checking the animal’s entire body during daily grooming sessions. Brushing a pet’s teeth is another ritual to perform regularly. A pet’s dental health can have incredible effects on its overall physical wellbeing. By keeping your animal’s teeth clean, you will also help keep the animal well between vet check-ups and can also avoid expenses related to professional cleanings.

It’s All About The Looks! Your feline will look and feel like the cat’s meow after a good grooming session! Keep your cat in its best condition by tending to its needs on a regular schedule. Avoid matted hair that is difficult to untangle, nails that are too long/curled, and other issues by paying attention to your pet each day. If you don’t have time to groom your pet, schedule an appointment with us at Nanhall Pet Spa, where we have the knowledge and care for your adored pet.

Jupiter.

is a very loving and faithful dog who thinks she is a lap dog! She is active during the day and enjoys games of tug-of-war and fetch, but at 8pm, she turns into a pumpkin and just wants to cuddle and sleep. Hiking, running, and swimming are just a few of her favorite activities. She is extremely smart--she’ll ring a bell on the door to let you know she needs to go out and she would make a wonderful companion for a family, couple or single person with older children or teens. Are you ready to be her forever family?

Hey there! My name is Jupiter, and I would really love to meet you! My foster mom tells me that I am very, VERY smart and learn things very quickly, especially if treats are involved! I love car rides, wiggly walks on the beach and hikes in the great wilderness (followed by a nice long nap). I absolutely love other dogs too so finding a home with another dog for me to play with would be absolutely amazing! Sophie.

My name is Sophie and I am loving, loyal, extremely cute and very smart. I sit, lay down, roll over, give paw and wait until my foster mom says it’s okay to eat. I love to walk and play outside and go swimming as well! I love following up my time outside with a good cuddle and a nap on the couch. Crates make me kind of nervous and that’s why I much prefer snoozing on the couch, especially if I’ve got a canine buddy to cuddle with. My perfect forever family would have kids because I am amazing with children of all ages! Are you ready to take me home and call me yours?! Call 336-438-2023, visit www.hsaconline.org or you can email hsacinfo@gmail.com for more information. n

Rose

Helen is an amazing young cat who may be a bit shy and slow to come out of her shell but once she does, she is an absolute joy! She is not much into cuddling but loves interactive play, especially with laser lights! She does appreciate some petting (especially when a human is attempting to work at their computer) but purrrrfers to play and would love to have another feline companion in the home to run, jump and pounce with. Call 336-438-2023, visit www.hsaconline.org or you can email hsacinfo@gmail.com for more information. n

Sissy.

is a beautiful and very talkative girl! She greets you with a meow and is quite expressive with her voice. She likes being petted on the head and absolutely loves cat nip. Rose is continuing to grow more confident in her foster home and while she may not be a lap cat all of the time, she does like being near her foster mom and will curl up at her feet to snooze when the mood strikes her. She is definitely a cat that will take time to warm up to humans and really trust them, however, this girl is definitely worth loving and taking home!

I am Sissy, a laid-back girl with a gentle meow and beautiful glossy fur. I love to be petted and have my head and chin scratched. My fur is velvety and I have the most striking coloring on my face. While I don’t really like to be picked up, I do enjoy sitting next to you to keep you company. I am the most active in the morning and early evening and little stuffed mice are my absolute favorite toys to play with! I love to lounge and window watch...do you have a window for me to claim?

Wheezy is a wonderful fawn 7 year old female Pug. She needs a home without male dogs and would do best in a home without an alpha female. Wheezy does not like other dogs in her face. She suffered an eye injury to her left eye years ago that was left untreated so the eye ball is smaller. Our vet advises leaving it alone since it does not bother her. She is healthy, spayed, up-todate on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250. Pug Rescue of NC

Luna is a sweet 5 year old girl who needs a little extra care. She had a pelvic/hip injury that did not heal properly and will need treatment for it in the near future. Despite her limitations, she is house and leash-trained, good with kids and larger dogs, enjoys a good game of ball, and loves to play with toys. A calm home with a limited number of stairs and a family willing to give her the time she needs to settle in are what this girl is looking for. German Shepherd Rescue & Adoptions

Marjorie.

My name is “Marjorie Morningstar.” I am one year old and I want to find my special Mama or Papa who will take me home and love me. I am spayed, microchipped and have all my shots. I’m small, only nine pounds, but I am playful and love to sprint around with a toy in my mouth! I’m also a little girl who loves to be held close in loving arms. I know there’s someone I belong with, someone who is looking for me. When we find each other, I will finally be home. Meet and visit with many of our cats at 311 Harvey St, Winston Salem during our adoption fair hours. Go to www.aarfanimals.org for information about our adoption fair hours and adoption process. n

Zinc

Meet Liam! He is the only baby in his litter that looks just like his mama! He can be a mama’s boy but loves to play with his siblings. Liam is a beautiful tabby that was born May 15th 2018. He came in with his mama and four siblings and has been a wonderful little boy with a loving personality. He is current on age appropriate shots. Visit many of our cats at the AARF House (311 Harvey St, Winston Salem) during our adoption fair hours. Go to www.aarfanimals.org for info about our adoption fair hours and adoption process. n

Chew Chi.

is a handsome orange and white male born April 30, 2018. He has a fantastic personality which includes talking! He wants to let you know that he is there to get some loving. As soon as you pick him up, or even touch him, his purr box starts. He wants to be with you all the time. Give him a soft blankie and he will make muffins all day long! Zinc is quite the love bug and gentleman. He is current on age appropriate shots and does well with other cats.

I’m Chew Chi, a calico girl born about 6/15/18. My brother and I were found at an apartment complex. We were too young to eat on our own and my brother didn’t make it. I was brought to AARF. My foster mom syringe-fed me and now I’m healthy. I live in a home with 5 other foster kittens, 4 cats and 3 small dogs. I like to climb on the cat trees, eat Fancy Feast, Iams and Kitten Chow. I also like to lay next to my foster mom and watch TV. Please let me join your family with one or more foster kittens!

Visit many of our cats at the AARF House (311 Harvey St, Winston Salem) during our adoption fair hours. Go to www.aarfanimals.org for information about our hours and adoption process. n

MilkyWay.

Laila.

It’s your lucky day! We have our very own MilkyWay in the house! And he is a beauty. Check out his marble markings, he looks just like Mama Skittles. Brother Twix is his favorite play pal. Skittles was lucky enough to find a caring lady to take her in when her babies were 24 hours old and keep them safe. MilkyWay is a very playful and loving boy. Would you like to have your very own MilkyWay right in your own home to admire?

I was found under a house looking for a safe place to have my babies. A week after AARF took me in, I had six babies. I am now spayed, microchipped and will get my other vaccinations, too! I am a beautiful girl with a matching personality... sweet, gentle, affectionate and playful. I haven’t had much exposure to my foster siblings (other cats and dogs) yet, but am rather leery of them because I am protective of my babies. I am looking for a special someone or family who will give me an indoor home, treat me like a member of the family and allow me time to gradually acclimate to possible new cat or dog siblings. Estimated DOB 4/2017

Twilight, about 2 years old, is an overall great cat. She’d be nominated “most popular” or “best all around” as a senior in high school. And she probably would have gotten into a little trouble talking instead of listening in class. She’s not annoyingly talkative, but just loves to converse when spoken to. She’s a calm beauty, with hair like patent leather and eyes like topaz gems. She’s never fussy, laid-back and trusts everyone. She came to Sheets Pet Clinic cat adoptions as a stray with a possible broken leg. Turned out it was an injury requiring surgery and cage rest. She’s all rested, healthy, walking and jumping fine, and ready to enrich your life! Email petadoptions@sheetspetclinic.com for application. Carl came from an animal shelter. He is estimated to be 9 years old and he weighs 9 lbs. Carl is a little shy and apprehensive at first but once he figures out that you are good people, he is very sweet and will roll over for you to scratch his belly. We think he may be house-trained, if let out enough, and he is definitely crate-trained. Carl is neutered, up-to-date on shots Chihuahua Rescue and on heartworm preventative. If you are willing to be patient with Carl and let him acclimate to your household, he will make a fantastic companion.

Sada & Daddie are a bonded pair and will not be separated. This loving and beautiful Dober pair are truly inseparable. They came to us from an owner who recently had several surgeries and could no longer give them proper care. That fact was reflected in their condition on arrival - fleas, dental needs, and heartworms. They also needed to be neutered and spayed. Thankfully, all their needs have been treated, so they’re fit and ready for a new home at this time. They are very bonded and best of friends. One Doberman Rescue of our volunteers said, “Their temperaof the Triad ments and personalities couldn’t be any calmer or sweeter. They both get into the car on their own and love to go for rides. They listen to their humans and follow each other around.” Read about Sada and Daddie at www.doberman-rescue.com. Make an appointment to meet them after your application is approved. n

Help us Raise the “WOOF”

The SPCA of the Triad, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit, is thrilled to announce we have purchased 11.85 acres of beautiful, wooded land at 2317 and 2319 McKnight Mill Road in anticipation of building a new State of the Art Center for the rescue, rehabilitation and education of people and animals in our community. ~The Rescue Center we want to provide is for you and the future well-being of our animal friends. For 24 years, the SPCA has served the Triad. We educate the public, provide spay/neuter services, rescue and rehabilitation of animals, and offer Food Bank, and Rabies Clinics. We also partnered with the Sheriff’s office to build dog houses. We partnered with Two Men and A Truck to deliver dog houses as well. The SPCA has also partnered with the N. C. Department of Corrections to sponsor The New Leash on Life Program, as well as partnering with Pets for Patriots. Lastly, we partner with People & Paws 4 Hope. We match many animals with happy families; however, we need and ask for your continued and ongoing support to build a state of the art animal rescue center for our deserving animals. So many animals in our community have been helped, yet many more could be helped with your contributions. Our Board of Directors had plans drawn up for a facility that would enable us to protect and help many more companion animals in a safe and friendly environment conducive to the best health practices available, but we need funding to give LIFE to these plans. We cannot save them all, it takes everyone working together to make a difference, but we can strive to do the best for needy animals going forward, and we can all make a difference one animal at a time. Please be a part of this exciting project, which cannot happen without you. We receive no funding from the ASPCA in New York, nor do we receive any type of government funding. We depend on the public and local companies for generous donations and grants. Please help us spread the word, share your ideas with us, and know that all donations designated for this project will be put to work for the community and the animals we serve. Additionally, your donations are tax deductible, ID: 56-1875807.

Katniss is a delightful 26 pound 6 year old who loves people and enjoys making new friends. Katniss is so affectionate and loves closeness, sofa time and lap time. This is one very sweet girl!! Her human mommy died recently, leaving her a bit confused and sad. Katniss is house-trained, great in the car and at the vet, good with other dogs, children and cats. She is very ready for a new family to love! Though good with other dogs, Katniss would prefer to be your only dog since she does not care to share her bed, toys or food with other dogs. Adoption donation $150. Visit www.lovingpetinnadoptions.org for more info. n

Pokey is a darling pup who came to us after his owner died. He is about 8 to 10 years old and 38 pounds. He has a wonderful coat that is a great combo of fluffiness, softness and also a bit wiry textured. His scruffy, smiling face is irresistible! He is affectionate, cuddly, friendly, easygoing and has good manners. He is fine with other dogs. Pokey is great on the leash and loves slow walks. He has arthritis in his back and joints so he is looking for a laid-back lifestyle. He just wants to be your faithful companion. He is absolutely precious! Adoption donation $200. Visit www.lovingpetinnadoptions.org for more info. n
