Brain Healing - Reduce Stigma around Mental Health Issues Healing can be interpreted as the reduction of the disease to an episode to be bracketed with a full return to the previous state, or rather as a return to a state of health. This is called recovery, a notion that may imply that a new equilibrium is reached, not necessarily identical to the pre-illness equilibrium. It would be very simplistic to present for example a depressive episode as a kind of angina that antidepressant treatment would heal as the antibiotic treats the infection of the tonsils. Psychological health has a decisive effect on how a person feels, perceives and interprets the world around him. Poor mental health impairs judgment, mood, and behavior, causing distress and difficulty in daily living. There are several categories of Mental Health Disorders, the most common of which are: The anxiety disorder is a mental health disorder most prevalent. It differs from usual everyday apprehension and stress in its severity, sustainability and negative impact on work and interpersonal relationships. Panic disorder, phobias, social anxiety disorder, obsessivecompulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder fall into this category. People having eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia have a distorted image of their body and adopt extreme behaviors to manage their diet and weight. Binge eating is compulsive, excessive and very fast eating. The mood disorders cause changes and disturbances of mood and emotions. Most people may feel very sad or happy from time to time, but people with mood disorders such as depression or bipolar disorder experience these emotions with greater intensity and for longer periods of time. Personality disorders interfere with the behavior, feelings and social interactions of the person who suffers from them. They can also make it more impulsive. Antisocial Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder are two examples of these diseases. Common myths and prejudices Mental health disorders are subject to stigma and misconceptions that have given rise to prejudices and falsehoods about people with these diseases. Although people have recently begun to talk more freely about their experience and the challenges they face with conditions such as anxiety or depression, other psychological illnesses, such as psychosis or schizophrenia, are still the subject of discussion. To dispel these myths, it is essential to understand what it is. A psychological disorder can be stated as a mental manifestation that is sometimes reflected in the behavior; who is usually associated with distress or disability; and who is considered alien to the normal development of a person.
