Our Decodable Readers offer a variety of interesting titles for children learning to read and write with Jolly Phonics. The books use a carefully controlled vocabulary based on the 42 letter sounds, tricky words, and alternative spellings taught across Steps 1 to 3.
Each level includes three series of books and incorporates new phonic knowledge, more tricky words, and longer texts, to build reading confidence and fluency. Comprehension questions and discussion topics are included at the end of each book to ensure children can not only read the text, but also get meaning from it.

Perfect for those just starting to read
The Orange Level (Level 0) provides books with simple texts for children who are not ready to start the Red Level. There are highly illustrated word books for blending and segmenting practice, as well as general fiction titles for hesitant readers.
Little Word Books
Perfect for letter sound practice
These Little Word Books provide a gradual and structured start for children who are just beginning to read. They give children the opportunity to apply their letter-sound knowledge and improve their ability to blend words fluently.
The words for blending cover the 42 letter sounds across fourteen books. There are two books for each letter-sound group, which have decodable words that only use the sounds for that group and below.
The beautifully illustrated pages can also be used to stimulate discussion and build vocabulary.

Read and See
Ideal for blending, segmenting, and vocabulary building
The Read and See books contain regular words that can be read by saying the sounds and blending them together. Children read the word and then turn the page to see the picture and find out if they are correct. They can use the sound dots under the picture to help them segment the word, pointing to each dot as they say the sound.
