Llandudno

Llandudno is known as ‘Queen of the Welsh Resorts’, and is the largest seaside resort in Wales. There is a wealth of attractions including the longest pier in Wales, a cable car and funicular tramway and of course the beautiful Victorian promenade curving between the bay between the Great Orme and the Little Orme.

Halifax and Hebden Bridge

Enjoy free time to explore Halifax, one of the most complete townscapes in Britain, with many impressive buildings including the Calderdale Industrial Museum, The Piece Hall and Eureka! The National Children’s Museum. If you enjoy shopping, visit the Victorian Halifax Borough Market and contemporary Westgate Arcade. Chorley Markets and Bygone Times

Tuesday 23rd April

Chorley is famous for its markets, which date back to 1498. Tuesday is the most popular market day, with more than 150 stalls in the centre of town. Bygone Times is a unique shopping experience which boasts a magnificent treasure trove of items across the ages, set within over 500 stalls, specialising in antiques, furniture, jewellery, timepieces, pottery, collectibles, memorabilia and vintage items.

Diddly Squat Farm Shop and Chipping Norton

Thursday 2nd May

Opened in 2020 by Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan, Diddly Squat Farm Shop is a barn full of good, no-nonsense things you’ll like! Everything in the shop is either produced on Diddly Squat Farm or by their neighbours in the Cotswolds. Chipping Norton is renowned for its antique shops and lively town centre, and plenty of historical interest includes the Grade I listed St Marys Church, grand Town Hall and small local museum.

Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza

Ashbourne, known as ‘Gateway to Dovedale’ has more than 200 listed buildings and a lively market. We continue to Tissington, where every year the ancient art of well dressing is celebrated, with 6 wells in the village dressed with a design created entirely from natural materials including coffee beans, leaves and flowers.

Conwy Valley: Betws-y-Coed, Bodnant Food Centre and Conwy

Tuesday 14th May

Betws-y-Coed is the gateway to Snowdonia, with a distinctly Alpine feel and independent shops. We travel through the Conwy Valley and make a further stop at the Bodnant Food Centre, before finishing the day in one of Britain’s best preserved medieval towns, Conwy. Conwy has well preserved ancient walls, castle, the smallest house in Great Britain and a unique mix of shops.

Brighton

Sunday 19th May

Stylish Brighton has all the ingredients for seaside fun, from the bustling Palace Pier to a stroll along the prom. Explore the Brighton i360 – the world’s tallest, moving observation tower, admire the aquatic creatures at the Sea Life Centre or simply relax on the beach. There is also an impressive Royal Pavilion and the boutiques and antique shops of the quaint Lanes as well as a range of modern stores.

Shaftesbury, Gold Hill and Salisbury

Shaftesbury Abbey Museum and Gardens tells the story of the Benedictine Abbey destroyed in Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries. Salisbury is a cathedral city of ageless beauty and captivating history. The cathedral is where you will find the best preserved of four original Magna Carta, and nearby Cathedral Close houses attractions like Monpesson House, the Rifles Military Museum and Salisbury Museum. The historic streets are filled with high street stores and independent retailers.

Burnham-on-Sea and Brean

With one of the longest sandy beaches in Europe, landmarks steeped in history, and a rich tapestry of family activities, Burnham-on-Sea offers something for everyone. Originally a fishing village, the iconic Low Lighthouse is the last of three active lighthouses in Burnhamon-Sea, and it has the shortest pier in Britain. Brean is home to the beautiful sandy beach, known as Brean Sands, an 1860’s fort and the Brean Leisure Park.

Wirral Wanderer

We enjoy an extended break in Port Sunlight, home to more than 900 listed buildings, set in 130 acres of parkland and gardens. We enjoy a lunchtime visit to Birkenhead, where Birkenhead Priory encapsulates so much of the towns history. Birkenhead Park is another iconic landmark – it was the world’s first public park and is said to have influenced the design of New York’s Central Park, with its two lakes and many listed buildings. The town also has an art gallery, excellent shopping centre with over 150 stores, Wirral Transport Museum and the U-Boat Story to explore. We end the day in New Brighton, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. Now regenerated, it boasts a unique mix of old and new, with its 19th century Grade II listed former sea defence and lighthouse and new retail and leisure development, Marine Point. There is also a beach and traditional seaside amusements.

Bradford-on-Avon and Corsham

Set perfectly in the dramatic Avon Valley, Bradford-on-Avon is a rare combination of river, canal and architecture. The Old Town Bridge is one of the most photographed parts of the town, sitting above the River Avon. There is a town museum, and many historical buildings including the Tithe Barn and the Saxon church. Corsham has a traditional village style and is famed for its historical buildings.

Torquay or Paignton

Torquay has been one of the top holiday destinations since Victorian times. Head for the waterfront, with palm lined promenade, seafront gardens, lively harbour and international marina. Visit the Living Coasts attraction, stroll along the pier, or stretch out on one of the fabulous beaches. The lively seaside town of Paignton is part of the beautiful area known as the “English Riviera”. Famous for its long, sandy, paddle friendly waters and a colourful, bustling pier, the town offers a lot more level walking than that of neighbouring Torquay. Two of the town’s main highlights include Paignton Zoo and the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway.

Burford, Bibury and Cirencester

Bibury is situated on the River Coln and was once described by William Morris as the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds. Our first call today is the delightful town of Cheddar, internationally known for its cheese and its Gorge. Visit the cheesemakers, the caves or the museum (extra fees apply) before we make our way to Burnham-on-Sea for the afternoon. Burnham has one of the longest stretches of golden sand in Europe – seven miles in total, amusement arcades and busy town centre.

Fylde Coast: Lytham St Annes and Fleetwood

The dual seaside towns of Lytham and St Annes are nestled along a picturesque stretch of coastline lined with well-tended lawns, a boating lake and pretty parks. With an expansive sandy beach, Victorian pier, historic windmill and stylish independent shops, they continue to remind us why we all love the British seaside so much. Fleetwood is a beautiful Victorian seaside resort boasting a stunning promenade, beautiful harbour yacht marina, set by a discount shopping village, traditional shops and the famous Fleetwood Market with its 200 stalls.

Aberystwyth and Borth

Sunday 21st July

We visit the principal seaside resort in West Wales, Aberystwyth. Situated in a striking setting nestling between three hills with colourful Victorian and Edwardian terraces lining the seafront. Ride the electric funicular railway, the longest in Britain, and at the summit is an octagonal camera obscura, the biggest in the world, with views of the town, mountains and bays. There is also an arts centre, National Library of Wales, ruins of Aberystwyth Castle and excellent shopping centre to explore. Borth sits virtually at the centre of Cardigan Bay and its main attraction is its award winning sand and shingle beach. There is also Borth Wild Animal Kingdom to explore, as well as the Borth Station Museum and nature reserve.

Dunster and Minehead

Dunster is one of the most popular places on Exmoor. It is a medieval village with an ancient castle, priory, dovecote, yarn market, pack-horse bridge and a mill. Since the decline of the woollen industry in the 18th century the village has been locked in a time warp. There is a plethora of tea shops and gift shops and over 200 listed buildings. We continue to Minehead where Exmoor meets the sea. Sitting on the very edge of the National Park, Minehead offers traditional seaside fun with its promenade and long sandy beach, and pebble beach near the harbour.

Summertime in the Lakes: Bowness and Grasmere

Wednesday 24th July

We visit the Lake District, and to Bowness-on-Windermere, the tourist town on Lake Windermere. Boat trips can be taken from the pier and there is a Steamboat Museum and the World of Beatrix Potter. We continue along Lake Windermere, through Ambleside to Grasmere, probably Cumbria’s most popular village thanks to William Wordsworth. There’s plenty of gift shops and places to eat.

Hunstanton is an elegant resort, the only west facing resort on the east coast. It retains Victorian charm and character and has buzzing family activities such as crazy golf and pitch and putt. Stroll along Morecambe’s award winning promenade and take in the views of Morecambe Bay, with it’s sandy beach. The town has a shopping centre and the Festival Market has around 100 stalls. The Tern Project has seen numerous pieces of public art installed around the town, the most famous piece being a statue honouring the town’s most famous son, Eric Morecambe. There’s plenty of scope for ice-cream, fish and chips and other seaside fare, and Happy Mount offers family friendly attractions including swing boats, mini golf, miniature train and splash park.

Lyme Regis boasts breath-taking scenery and a special mystique, making it a sparkling resort for all seasons. Its historic Cobb and harbour are iconic features, set against moody blue cliffs. We stop at Bala for a break, an historic market town in the Snowdonia National Park.

We continue to Barmouth, on the West Coast of North Wales and lying between a mountain range and the sea on the mouth of the River Mawddach. Confirmation of Booking

We require payment in full within 7 days of booking. We will then send you a confirmation/receipt which is also your ticket for the excursion. If payment is not received within this time, your booking will be cancelled.

Cash, cheque, debit and credit cards are acceptable.

Reductions

There are no reductions for Senior Citizens or Children on Express Excursions

Cancellation

(a)By the Company

If, due to less than 20 bookings, we are forced to cancel any excursion, we reserve the right to do so up to 2 working days prior to departure. All monies paid by passengers will be refunded and following that, we shall be exempt from further liability.

(b)By the Passenger

You may cancel your booking at any time, subject to these conditions:

(i) With more than 2 working days prior to departure you will receive a refund of £5.00 per person.

(ii) With less than 2 working days’ notice, the FULL AMOUNT PAID per person fare is non-refundable.

Alterations

The company reserves the right to alter or cancel any excursion listed in this brochure, or to change the size and specification of vehicle used. On occasion it may be necessary to allocate a vehicle with a larger seating capacity. When this occurs please be advised that seat numbers may change.

Unaccompanied Children

Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult of at least 18 years of age.
