The Syracuse University Alumni C lub of C entral Ohio is the official C olumbus area regional chapter of the Syracuse University Alumni Association. Established in 2011, our mission is to facilitate introductions of local alumni for the purpose of building social and professional relationships. We also aim to serve as a community resource for alumni, recent graduates and current students who are, or will be, relocating to C olumbus for personal or professional reasons. Our 2012 leadership team consists of four officers (President, vice president, secretary, treasurer), as well as three alumni who serve on the club's board of directors: John Guccion, President, '96 B.S. Broadcast Journalism, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications John is serving his second term as club president after founding the group in 2011. A Bethesda, Md., native and former radio news and sports broadcaster, John currently works as a customer communication content manager for C hase's home mortgage division. In his spare time, he pens a classic movie blog, www.moviesinthemanroom.blogspot.com, and cheers relentlessly for our Orange football and basketball teams. You can follow John on twitter, @SUGooch. Matthew Scroggy, Vice President, '08, B.S. Chemical Engineering, L.C. Smith School of Chemical Engineering and Computer Science Born and raised in Aurora, Ohio, Matt is serving his second term as the club's vice president. C urrently a fourth-year Docor of Pharmacy student at The Ohio State University, Matt lists the 2009 lacrosse national championship game victory over C ornell, which he attended in person, as his favorite Syracuse memory.

Gina Hernandez, Secretary, '10, B.S. Communications and Rhetorical Studies Political Science, College of Visual and Performing Arts Gina is an executive director with the Society for New C ommunications Research, a global nonprofit think tank dedicated to the advanced study of new media and communications. During her career, Gina has also led blogger outreach and agency research initiatives. Originally from Santa Fe Springs, C alif., Gina enjoys the beach, going on long walks, shoes, and ninja fighting. Ryan Stalzer, '00, B.S. Broadcast Journalism, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications Ryan is a regional marketing director for Nationwide Insurance and holds a Master's of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University. A sports enthusiast, Ryan previously worked for ESPN and The Golf C hannel and plays in a variety of recreational leagues during his free time. Ryan offers no comment when mandated by the club president to choose between Syracuse and Ohio State. Dan Korte, Board of Directors, '98, M.A. Public Communication Studies, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications Dan Korte is a certified human resources professional who earned his master's degree at Syracuse after completing his bachelor's work at Virginia Tech. Originally from Great Falls, Va., Dan is active in the C olumbus community where he serves on multiple committees for the Human Resources Association of C entral Ohio. Dan shares John Guccion's affection for the Washington Redskins and Nationals despite their agonizing losing trends. Dan and his wife Deanna, also a Syracuse alumnus, live in C olumbus. Stephanie Rankin, Board of Directors, '95, M.S. Education - University Administration, School of Education A six-year employee with the State of Ohio, Stephanie currently works as a training manager for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. Stephanie's extensive background in education includes 10 years at The Ohio State University specializing in student life. Stephanie lives in Upper Arlington with her son, fiance, and two dogs. You may see her in a Syracuse tshirt while riding her Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle around town! Chris Yartin, Board of Directors, '97, B.S. Marketing Management, Whitman School of Management C hris is a product consultant for Nationwide Financial, specializing in compliance and risk management. He is an active volunteer in the C olumbus community, generously offering his free time to United Way, American Red C ross, Mid-Ohio Foodbank, and the C apital Area Humane Society.
