une 4 started like any other Wednesday for Anthem resident Campbell Hess, 71. He was doing yard work early to beat the heat. His wife, Paula, left for her job around 7 a.m. “I worked in the yard for over an hour, and then felt extremely fatigued. I was shaking a little, and my fingers were going numb. My first thought was that I had heat stroke,” Campbell said. “I went inside and tried to cool off.” He soon called his wife, then 9-1-1. The next thing he remembers is waking up at John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital about 24 hours later. Campbell didn’t know that his heart stopped in the ambulance on Interstate 17 on the way to Deer Valley Hospital.
