2020 Recruiter of the Year Gina Bartley wrote, “The 2020 Recruiter of the Year Award goes to Elisha Thornton! Elisha has been with JCT since September 9, 2019. She started with JCT thru a temp service and hired on with us, officially, on December 10th, 2019. Recruiter of the year is a HUGE accomplishment for any recruiter, but for someone to take the title, with only one year experience under her belt, is astonishing! I originally hired her for the position of Pre-Qualifying Recruiter. In 2 short weeks it was easy to see Elisha wanted more and was up for the challenge. I moved her to the position of recruiter and she has exceeded my expectations. One key to being a successful recruiter is communication. Elisha is an effective communicator and not afraid to ask questions when she doesn’t know the answer. She is eager to learn new things about the industry too, in which we all know is ever changing. She is always looking for ways to improve her process. Please take time to congratulate Elisha Thornton for her outstanding performance! I can’t wait to see what she brings to 2021. Elisha, I am so proud of you!”

Recruiter of the Month December 2020 Gina Bartley wrote, “Congratulations goes to Tara Rosson for Recruiter of the Month!December 2020! Tara has been with JCT since October 2016, but officially since January 17, 2017. She is one of our seasoned recruiters and currently works remotely from home, and obviously, doing a fantastic job. Tara has great communication skills with drivers and makes friends with them from the start. Every driver is “precious” to her. We miss her smiling face in the office, but we know we can count on her to get the job done at home. Thank you Tara, for all your hard work! I’m so proud of you! To show our appreciation, lunch will be on us along with a ½ day off of your choice!”

Scott Zane wrote, “I was on a 10hr break at the Flying J in Snowville, UT when I noticed a driver that was stuck. The lot was icy. A Flying J employee had previously plowed the lot, but it wasn’t enough, plus it was continuing to snow more. It was also an uphill grade from where he was stuck to where his desired parking spot is. When I came back out of the building, that’s when I figured out that he was stuck, so I offered to help by using a pair of tire socks. Shortly after we got him safely into his spot, another driver trying to park right next to the first guy also got stuck. A Flying J employee and I helped get him unstuck as well. A third driver was having the same difficulty before deciding to just nose into his desired spot. The first driver tried to give me $20 for helping him, but I refused to take it. I told him just pay it forward and help another driver out if he sees that they could use it. The second driver offered coffee, food, etc. but I also refused since I had already just gotten myself some fresh food and drink before helping them. Somebody in a Facebook group that I shared this to also offered to buy me lunch next time I’m in their area. Truckers love to see and hear about truckers helping fellow truckers out. There is too much Super Trucker behavior out here today, with people wanting to post pics and videos of other truckers’ problems instead of helping them. I also posted this more so to demonstrate how easy it is to remove and install tire socks compared to chains, and how effective they can also be. These were both done with socks installed on only 2 of 8 drive tires, since my super single drive tire socks are not the right side for duals.”

2020 DRIVER REFERRER OF THE YEAR WINNER(S)

Thomas Clark

Kyle Thomas

Thomas brought in 8 drivers and will have his January and February truck payments paid for by JCT!

Kyle brought in 8 drivers and will have his January and February truck payments paid for by JCT!

Recruiter Jennifer Mays wrote, “Thomas won me over with one of the 1st phone calls I had with him. His application was beautiful. He was polite, reserved, quiet, and exactly the kind of driver JCT wants. When it came down to the fact we are a Lease Purchase Program the hesitation was apparent. He got quiet, listened to everything I had to say, asked as many questions as he could think of before making the decision that JCT was where he wanted to be. It didn’t take long for him to find his groove and from that moment he hasn’t stopped.

Driver Manager Sean Layman wrote, “Kyle, is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He always has a positive attitude, and is willing to help anyone out. I am absolutely not surprised that with his attitude he is at the top of the referral list.”

“I wish I would have come over sooner” was one of 1st things he said when I called in to check on how things were going shortly after becoming part of the family in Dec 2019. From an outsider looking in – He is working smarter not harder. He understands that this is the trucking industry and with that come good runs with good miles and that means good money. He also understands that with the good, you’ve got to have some bad. Bad runs, miles, weeks etc. but he is aware it’s the ”what happens next that will make a driver or break a driver.” Thomas has taken this opportunity to be able to own his own company and he looks at it as a business and I truly believe that running it as such has played a role in his success here at JCT. He’s the REAL DEAL when it comes to growing our fleet with driver referrals.”

Recruiter Jennifer Mays Wrote, Kyle “Double T” Thomas – As I sit here and think of the words to say about him “I AM JCT” comes to mind. Its been that way since he became a family member back in May of 2013. Anytime I have spoken to him about whether or not he has any more driver referrals for me to get in touch with to potentially join the JCT Family, I get the same response “I have a couple of drivers that I am getting more information on so as to be sure they are JCT Drivers and not just a body to fill a truck”. When Kyle refers drivers to JCT – he is already looking at the end result for his referral – The American Dream. In order for that to happen however there is a process. Kyle handles most of the footwork himself as far as the prequalifying process goes. His qualifications are a bit different than what we require as a company and by that I mean not only do they meet the minimum JCT standard qualifications, but they also meet the “Double T Standards” to which he is proud to have his truck number or driver code listed on an application. “

Russ nominated Jesse Chrisco. Russ said, “Jesse is always helping out other drivers on social media and in the real world. He continues to make sure that all of JCT’s equipment is up to date and legal to roll. Jesse will do whatever it takes to make sure a trailer is in great standards even it means to take the trailer to multiple locations to get fixed. He is great Driver and always does what it takes to complete the mission.”

Josh Wooten

Hollie nominated Josh Wooten. Hollie said, “Joshua is a great driver who always goes above and beyond to make on time deliveries. He is dependable and always very friendly.”

Armando Salgado

Jose & Kathy Diaz

Jen nominated her team Jose and Kathy Diaz. Jen said, “I want to give a shout out to team L4193 Jose and Kat Diaz for offering to bring Thanksgiving dinner to any driver that was near or at the Davenport yard for Thanksgiving! It’s acts of kindness like this that remind me of how truck drivers are the most loyal, giving people I have ever met! Thank you both for always stepping up to the plate to open your hearts to help other drivers in a time of need!”

Dale nominated Armando Salgado. Dale said, “Armando always does a great job keeping the wheels turning & it really shows as he can easily clear 3,000 miles in a week. This driver is a great communicator, anytime he needs anything or needs to inform me of a situation he’s contacting me right away. Armando started driving for JCT back in early November & since then has done nothing but succeed with this company. I really look forward to working w/ Armando more in the future as he’s a joy to have on my team.”

Thomas Clark

Pedro & Nidia Reyes

Josh nominated his team, Pedro & Nidia Reyes. Josh said, “Appreciate all their help and hard work each month, but this month they really stood out. Team was extremely valuable during the holidays. Worked through both Thanksgiving and New Year’s saving many loads for on time delivery and gave up loads to help others get home. One of the top teams for miles for the month of December.”

Ron Cooper

Ryan nominated Ron Cooper. Ryan said, “Ron is a the last of his kind. An old school driver that never turns down a challenge. He finished the 4th qt with over 41,000 and is now going on his 5th year here at JCT.” OUR DRIVERS / Drivers of the Month Nominees

Gage nominated Thomas Clark. Gage said, “Thomas is one of the most consistent runners I have and doesn’t take a lot of time off. He makes sure that his freight keeps moving and always has a good attitude. He is trustworthy as well if he says he is going to do something then he absolutely will.”

John Herb

Sean nominated John Herb. Sean said, “John is a dedicated driver, who has invested himself in JCT. He is always willing to help, a true team player, he has also taken on responsibilities to be a mentor and help others succeed. John always has a great attitude and absolutely kicks butt, because he knows how to take care of business.”

David Gonzalez

Tom nominated David Gonzalez. Tom said, “ David is a very hard worker. He plans his trips well. He worked over the holidays and helped covering loads. Thank you, David, for all you do for JCT.”

Ashante Roberts

Travis nominated Ashante Roberts. Travis said,” Ashante is a great worker, driver and person. I am very glad to welcome him to JCT, he hasn’t been here two months yet. But he has been a great addition to our team. He has been a hand when it comes to swapping for on time, and he is always willing to go the extra mile to help. He stays in great contact with me and is seeming to be on top of his game, I see great things and a lot of miles ahead. God bless and thank you again, keep doing great things sir.”

Leavin Larios

Sarah nominated Leavin Larios. Sarah said, “Leavin is a beast when it comes to rolling out those miles! Last summer during one of the numerous hurricanes that hit the Gulf Leavin continued to roll through the storm. When I called him to get him re-routed up north to get him away from the storm, he told me he was fine. That the weather wasn’t that bad. He continued and delivered the load safely and on time. I know that if the weather had been really bad, he wouldn’t of taken a chance and re-routed himself to keep himself and the load safe. Leavin is always good for safe on time delivery and does it with a great out-look on life. I’m very glad that I have Leavin on my board.

Richard Budin

Brian nominated Richard Budin. Brian said, “Richard has proven himself many times to be very reliable and has also saved a couple really tight loads over the last month. Richard is always willing to help other drivers, has a positive attitude, and never rejects a preplan.”

Jonathan Day

Charles nominated Jonathan Day. Charles said, “I nominate Jonathan because of his day to day work ethics and his desire to keep rolling and not cherry picking every load that is offered to him. He has helped on several relays to get drivers home, even if took some miles away from him. His continuous effort to make on time delivery for our customers is a great trait to have.”
