Discussion on The Future of Energy: by Dr. Lars… Lars Schernikau October 2022 Excerpts: Bloomberg Green - October 5, 2021 Global Energy Crisis is the First of Many in the Clean-Power Era. The next several decades could see more periods of energy-driven inflation, fuel shortages and lost economic growth as electricity supplies are left vulnerable to shocks. How much energy do we use? Total energy needed in the future will increase due to population increase and amount of energy used per capita. Electricity is about 40% of global primary energy. Fossil fuels are about 60% of electricity and 80% of global primary energy. Life expectancy -
1600 to 1850 AD between ~35 - 40 years 1850 to 2015 AD increase to 70+ years
Access to energy extends life expectancy. What is the Future of Energy? -
Reduce the waste we generate. Reduce poverty to weather climatic changes.
Summary -
Fundamental underinvestment in the “old economy” and 80% of energy sources. Today’s “Renewabls” come with inefficiencies; it leads to energy starvation. Entire supply chain counts; Current sole focus on combustion and operations distorts and is costly. Coal is “better for the climate” than LNG.
