Koers Kunst is a national brainstorm about how the Dutch art world can improve and renew itself. It was launched in April 2011, with a call for ambitious new ideas for the production, presentation, participation, and funding of arts and culture. In the following months, both experts and enthusiasts introduced their proposals. The best ideas were presented and discussed online (www.koerskunst.nl), in Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant and on public radio. Never before have so many different participants publically discussed the future of arts and culture. Koers Kunst rounded off with a public presentation of a publication that, based on the results of the brainstorm, describes the new challenge for arts institutions in the 21st century.
