The number of people watching an arts program on a quiet Sunday night equals the number of visitors a large theater draws in a whole year (!). These and other eye-openers are presented in the Datascape Cultuur. This publication cum infographic of 7 metres long describes and visualizes the state of the Dutch arts world in a whole new way. Arts consultant Johan Idema initiated the publication and co-produced it with designer Hendrik-Jan Grievink. The datascape draws from more than 200 research reports on arts and culture – the first time that such a large and wide diversity of research documents has been considered integrally. The publication is made possible by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Fonds BKVB. Order the original Datascape Cultuur (print version, 7 meter) at jhidema@gmail.com
