PASSIVE GREEN BUILDINGS

GREEN STRATEGIES FOR BUILDING DESIGN SITE PLANNING The surface area in contact with the sun is minimised to reduce the heat gain in the building and overlapping protects the lower level from over exposure. The space however is open to maximise heat dissipation during the day

DAYLIGHTING

With the use of full height sliding glass screens and adjustable glass louvers over half the opening width, the building has fully expressed the 'transparency' which allows diffused natural light to penetrate all spaces for energy efficiency purposes.

FACADE DESIGN

Operable low-e glazed facade covering with dynamic shading system accommodate in achieving user thermal comfort and natural light qualities together. Bifold vertical shutter with external sunscreens of perforated stainless steel have reduce the building in solar irradiation of up to 77.9%.

NATURAL VENTILATION

The stacking L-shape form structure forms an inner courtyard which allows stack ventilation and operable facade where directs the wind for cross ventilation.

STRATEGIC LANDSCAPING Double roof garden helps to reduces the heat of the building and lowers the energy cost for cooling. The trees shades the area to helps reduces ambient temperature and water body to cool down the air

Average Annual Temperature

Climate: Temperate Design Intention : to create connection to the riverside landscape and mountains

STRATEGIC LANDSCAPING Despite the closed building, the water body helps purify the enclosed spaces and the scattered indoor courtyard promotes green spaces for a healthy space for the users. This shows that despite enclosure, through strategic landscaping, it is still a liveable space.

NATURAL VENTILATION Stack ventilation occurs at the two inner courtyards to ensure the air flow during winter and ensure well thermal performance during summer.

FACADE DESIGN Waving texture masonry stone facade maximize the light transmission and prevent heat loss from interior during winter. Function as a natural thermal mass fabric heat regulation system and promote thermal mass engagement.

DAYLIGHTING The natural lighting is expected to come in from the sawtooth roof to the central atrium to light and warm up the spaces and a soft indoor light environment created by using glass brick facade. Function of sawtooth roof: - Summer: shading device - Winter: natural lighting

SITE PLANNING The massing of the building allow a thorough light penetration during a full day for the advantage during winter season, the heat will warm up the building. The volume over surface area allow less heat dissipation to keep thermal energy during Winter.
