While I was in junior high and high school, my mom and I served together in our local chapter of the National Charity League, which is like a mother-daughter Junior League. When I moved to Shreveport, my mom encouraged me to join the JLSB. However, based on her experience of gathering sponsors to join in the 1980s, she was not sure I would get in on my first try! I am thankful the JLSB now welcomes any woman who supports our mission of service to the community. During my ten years in the League, I have developed my potential in many ways and have had numerous opportunities to build self confidence and practice public speaking. I have also been fortunate to serve alongside so many impressive
