Week

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER

National Volunteer Week was first established in the United States by Presidential proclamation in 1974. It is now organized by Points of Light, which is the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. Points of Light describes National Volunteer Week as an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities, and to be a force that transforms the world. This year, the United States will observe National Volunteer Week from April 17–23. The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier has over 550 devoted members we need to celebrate. Our amazing Active and Provisional members

have provided thousands of service hours to our community. Our wonderful Sustainers continue to impact our community and our League with their wealth of knowledge and the skills they developed during their times in the League. As we continue to navigate unprecedented times, our incredible members continue to show up and volunteer. Our members have proven their commitment to our League’s mission in promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of woman, and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of our trained volunteers. A big thank you to all our Provisional, Active, and Sustainer members for your continued commitment to voluntarism and for the time and energy you contribute to volunteering.
