Manufacturing Through racing we develop new products based on track success. If a part that we use at a race meeting works, we sell it! Product development at its best. In our manufacturing efforts, if we discover that a new material is stronger and lighter, or a new technique yields better performance, we race with it. The same is true for the actual R&D department.
The R&D shop typically performs two functions. Product development and product refinement. The R&D guys are constantly updating and improving existing parts while simultaneously developing new ones. It’s a blend of the theoretical and practical that inevitably comes full circle in harmony.
The one constant is performance. At Yoshimura, the search for this elusive nectar is relentless. Whether this takes the form of improving manufacturing techniques, developing innovative products, or sliding superbikes around at 180mph, it all revolves around performance.
Of course the satisfaction comes from the chase as well as the result. Without a lot of hard work and due diligence, the discovery of the little secrets that make up speed is somehow diminished. When all is said and done, working in R&D is a combination of exhilaration, frustration, and elation
Yoshimura’s state-of-the-art facility is not only centered around R&D either. From warehousing to manufacturing each part of the facility is dependent of another so only the most technologically advanced computer systems keep the balance. Computer automated picking machines allow easy and accurate picking from our inventory making it possible to ship hundreds of exhaust systems a day. The manufacturing side of the facility is one which is an engineering form of art! Robotic welders, CNC machines, laser cutters, and tube bending, every aspect of the manufacturing department is carefully held in the balance of optimal quality.
