IMAGE: Patrick Dougherty Finders Keepers Photo: Robin CameronBold, significant artworks like Mama Mimi in R Park, the Town Enclosure pavilion at the Center for the Arts, and Willow Grove along Broadway require substantial investment to seed a project and to secure a commitment with a world-renowned artist several years in advance.
This is why we have started the Catalyst Fund.
The Catalyst Fund will enable our small but mighty organization to expand the size, scope, and impact of the artwork we bring to Jackson by creating a source of funding we will leverage to attract national and international artists to our valley when exceptional opportunities arise.
If we raise $50,000 by June 1st, we will unlock a matching $50,000!
Please consider becoming an investor in the Catalyst Fund. Meaningful gifts by visionaries like you help us create joyful public art experiences for all to share.
The possibilities are endless.
Finders Keepers by Patrick Dougherty was produced by the Center for the Arts with project management services provided by Jackson Hole Public Art.
Patrick Dougherty is an American environmental artist, best known for his sculptures and installations built with sticks and saplings. Finders Keepers is a site-specific sculpture that was constructed over the course
of three weeks with the help of 1,000 local volunteer hours. It is made entirely out of locally sourced willows found in Teton and Sublette Counties.

1) Make art collaboratively with local residents where they live, work, and play to reduce stress and increase social interactions;
2) Create art that is functional (climbable, exercise-based, street murals) to improve the community’s physical and mental health, increase pedestrian safety, and beautify utilitarian areas; and,
3) Change the way our community develops public spaces to be more equitable and inclusive.

Patch It, Don’t Trash It! Over seven weeks this summer, we worked with our community to carve blocks and screenprint original designs from local artists onto patches made from recycled textiles from ISWR and donated Stio samples. Open to all, this upcycling project also included open-studio nights of sewing and embroidery instruction to embellish recycled clothes. We distributed hundreds of creative patches and upcycled clothing at People’s Markets for free, raising awareness of ISWR’s textile recycling program.
Community Artist: Winter Heaton
Students were challenged to consider how the built environment is influenced by natural surroundings. Students worked in groups to build small-scale, cardboard models of their forts on the first day and then enlarged their projects on the second day to create structures they could enter and explore. One student’s thank you note said, “I had so much fun. My favorite part was everything.”
Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling (ISWR) Photo: Robin Cameron Photo: Robin CameronCommunity Artist: Suzanne Morlock
Local artist Suzanne Morlock coordinated a community process to produce a public artwork. Over 140 flags were created by all ages, using a magical solar printing process. The flags help us envision a greener tomorrow and inspire involvement in green energy initiatives. Flags were created at the EcoFair, People’s Market, Mondays in May Park, and Aspen Meadows.
“Art out in public creates opportunities for all to see through new perspectives, breaking down barriers and inviting participation and conversation. So many thanks to Jackson Hole Public Art for providing platforms for this to happen, 2022 was an amazing intersection of ideas, community and making stuff!”
- Suzanne MorlockCommunity Artist: Matt Daly
Matt Daly, local poet and curator of The Poetry Box, worked with community members to design a visuallyintriguing, collaborative water poem to draw attention to the next ArtSpot. Matt engaged community members at two consecutive People’s Markets, where the poem was displayed on the walls of the tent, growing as people participated.

Community Artist: Thea Alvin
Made from river cobbles, River Spiral was created by renowned stone mason Thea Alvin with assistance from community members and it will remain in place until the river decides. River Spiral is a delight, inviting participants to reflect on time, and our connection to nature. The artist encourages community members to add to the sculpture when they visit.
Community Artist: Bland Hoke
Bland Hoke (of Bland Design) relocated The Small Village of Treepoli to Garaman Park, adjacent to a highly trafficked pathway and trailhead. Treepoli was perched strategically in the trees, created primarily of natural materials and hinted at a village of people left to the imagination. Community members helped create and install the features in the trees at Garaman Park to inspire passersby. Everyone was encouraged to add creative, natural infrastructure when they visit.
Community Artist: Jeremy Collins
Sponsored The Hub Bicycles
Jeremy Collins is an artist, athlete, storyteller, and activist known for creating art that aligns with and amplifies causes he believes in. The Hub Bicycles holds a special place in our community as passionate advocates for cycling and the role it plays in providing positive benefits to our community. Collins’ artwork puts a bicycle wheel at the center of a strong, verdant tree, showing how cycling can center a healthy community. The mural was created on Polytab
with paint pens and Sharpie. Photo: Robin CameronSponsored by First Republic Bank

Location: Garaman Park Underpass
A new mural was created by JH High School students to celebrate the relationship between sister cities Jackson, Wyoming and Tlaxcala, Mexico.
Thirty-five high school students contributed to the new mural project, as part of a Spanish Through Art class taught by Gabriel Lopez. In this upper-level Spanish language class, students develop their Spanish skills through learning about Mexican art and create a work of art at the end of every thematic unit.
Over the last thirty years, many people from the Tlaxcala state have emigrated to Jackson and the surrounding region. The mural depicts the richness of Tlaxcala, which is located east of Mexico City at approximately 7,000 feet above sea level. Students studied the history of the region and selected elements to represent local plantlife, folk art and dance, significant Olmec-Xicalanca archaeological sites, historical buildings from the town of San Simeon, and two nearby volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. This mural - at 76 feet in length - was a large undertaking, and teacher Gabriel Lopez notes: “I knew it was going to be a challenge but I was more excited for my students to see that they are capable of accomplishing big things.”
Location: Broadway
HydroGeometry is the result of a year-long collaboration between Candra Day of Vista 360° and the local architecture firm GYDE Architects’ Peggy Gilday, Nona Yehia, and Jessica Barnhouse, and it was fabricated by Premier Powder Coating & Custom Fabrication of Rexburg, Idaho.
This large-scale, three-dimensional sculpture explores the geometry of water as it transforms from rain to snow through layers of laser-cut steel. The final design of interlaying hexagonal and triangular grids came together following an extensive exploration of rain and snow at a molecular level by the design team. References to the water cycle emerge from the form, drawing to mind water filters, solar panel cells, even geological growth as the form is brought to life in its interplay with sunlight and shadow, rain and snow through the days and seasons.
The ArtSpot is a JH Public Art project, in which regional artists are invited to create site-specific installations that inspire moments of discovery and joy for the more than 30,000 daily drivers that pass by.
Light a Wish visualizes the good intentions that we quietly release and (hopefully) encounter again in the future. The illuminated dandelion puffballs are carriers of our deepest desires and dreams. Light a Wish is part of the Light Art Collection.
