Logística municipio de Nuevo Laredo, invierten más de 28 millones de pesos para construir en el paso fronterizo tres casetas, vialidades y señalamientos, además de la ampliación de un cuarto carril de acceso a la aduana, la construcción de una vialidad para camiones vacíos y la instalación de tres casetas para el programa Free and Secure Trade (FAST). A día de hoy, el cruce tiene siete casetas en funcionamiento. Según los datos del Puente Comercio Mundial, los aforos de exportación en el acumulado de enero a abril de 2013 aumentaron un 4.36% respecto al mismo periodo del año anterior al registrarse un total de 488 mil 252 vehículos frente a los 467 mil 833 de 2012. Muchos de estos camiones pertenecen a la empresa Transportes Fema, especializada en el servicio de transfer o cruce internacional, que cuenta con 340 tractocamiones exclusivamente para ello, principalmente por Nuevo Laredo, aunque también por Colombia, en Nuevo León. El transfer se ha convertido en una actividad fundamental en el comercio con Estados Unidos. “Es una opción muy importante que complementa la operación del transporte al cruzar la frontera: el camión con el remolque llega a la frontera y entrega la caja con mercancía al transfer, camión encargado de hacer la fila de revisión y ocupar el tiempo muerto del proceso”, explica el director de operaciones de Fema, Alberto Alonso. Precisamente, el principal reto en el cruce fronterizo es el tiempo. “Nos dijeron que en abril habría reajustes en la aduana estadounidense por los recortes presupuestarios, pero aún con el personal de siempre, la tardanza de cruce en exportación se debe a las inspecciones de seguridad, no tanto a la cantidad de personal. Ellos le dedican el tiempo que consideran necesario a la investigación y ahí es donde se retrasan los cruces y embarques. El puente cuando está en horas de máxima operación es insuficiente, se convierte en un embudo, un cuello de botella”, advierte Alonso. Según el directivo de la empresa que realiza entre 950 y mil cruces al día, una parte importante de los camiones pueden demorar entre dos a cinco horas en el trámite fronterizo.
