2024-2025 Impact Report

A Message From Our Board Chair and CEO

This past year has been a remarkable chapter in the story of Jewish Dallas. With your steadfast support, our community has continued to grow in size, strength, and spirit. Together, we are thriving even in the face of real and present challenges, and it is because of your belief in our mission and your commitment to our shared future.

Thanks to your extraordinary philanthropic giving, we raised $12.8 million to support Jewish life locally, in Israel, and around the world. These resources allowed us to invest in a wide range of programs and services, from education and social support in Dallas to humanitarian aid and Jewish identity-building overseas. We allocated 128 grants across 75 agencies, each one a reflection of our collective values and vision.

As our community continues to live with the aftermath of the October 7 terrorist attacks, we reaffirm our solidarity with Israel, advocate for the release of the hostages, and support efforts to ensure safety and healing. Locally, we continue to deepen our commitment to communal security, working closely with partnership agencies, schools, and shuls to protect our institutions, combat antisemitism and ensure peace of mind for our families.

Jewish Dallas is growing at an unprecedented pace, now home to more than 80,000 individuals. With this growth comes a renewed sense of responsibility. We are stepping up to meet the moment by caring for our communal ecosystem, expanding outreach and engagement, and making Jewish life more accessible and inclusive. We are also building spaces and relationships that foster connection, belonging, and purpose through innovative programming.

Recognizing the proud legacy of leadership that proceeds us, we are humbled to guide this vibrant and visionary community alongside our board, continually inspired by the generosty and passion of our donors, who make everything we do possible. We invite you to read this report and join us in our mission as we continue to thrive—together.

With appreciation,

WE ARE

Jewish Dallas

As one of the fastest-growing Jewish communities in the United States, Jewish Dallas spans four major counties— Dallas, Collin, Denton, and Rockwall—encompassing a vibrant and ever-expanding Jewish community of 80,000+ people. This dynamic growth has cultivated a rich, diverse cultural ecosystem, reflecting the strength, heritage, and unity of our community.

Uniting Jewish Dallas:

The Federation Leads the Way

As the convener of Jewish Dallas, the Federation plays a vital role in weaving together the people, programs, and agency partners that strengthen our community. Through ongoing assessment and data-informed decision-making, the Federation identifies service gaps, reduces barriers to participation, and responds to evolving community needs—ensuring that every investment delivers meaningful, measurable impact.

Caring for our ecosystem

Outreach, Engagement, and Affordability of Jewish Life

Building Community

Our Mission: To help ensure the continuity of a strong and vibrant Jewish community in Dallas, Israel, and throughout the world.

Caring for our Ecosystem

Recognizing that some challenges are too large for individual agencies, schools, synagogues, or community members to tackle alone, the Federation steps in to coordinate and execute large-scale initiatives that ensure the safety and resiliency of Jewish Dallas. From enhancing communal security infrastructure to advocating for Jewish interests at the local, state and national levels, the Federation acts as a powerful collective force, proving that we are truly stronger together.

Security

Security is at the heart of our Federation’s mission to protect and strengthen our Jewish community. Our dedicated security team ensures the safety of every community member through:

• comprehensive assessments of facilities and organizations

• regular training forums

• coordinated emergency communication systems

• maintaining a robust and trusted partnership with local law enforcement

• guidance in applying to national security grants

Last year, our security team guided local schools, synagogues, and partner agencies in acquiring nearly $3.3 million in FEMA grants to enhance local security.

Federations’ Day at the State Resulted in Additional Security Dollars

At our statewide Jewish Communities Day at the State program, more than thirty members from our Jewish Dallas community met up with thirty of our state representatives in one day to advocate for issues important to the Jewish community. Our advocacy this year secured a 250% increase in state allocations to supplement the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, with $7 million allocated in the 2025-2027 biennial state budget.

Combatting Antisemitism and Supporting Jewish Families

Federation helped keep our students safe by:

• Forming the Greater Dallas Coalition to Combat Antisemitism – convened by the Federation, this monthly meeting of Jewish communal professionals discusses strategic and collaborative efforts to address antisemitism in educational spaces.

• Leading a formal outreach to K-12 public and private school leadership ahead of the High Holidays and one-year anniversary of October 7th. We shared guidelines and resources to help school administrators consider and prioritize the safety and wellbeing of Jewish students.

• Collaborating with all Jewish Federations in Texas to advocate for changes in public education curriculum proposed at the time to ensure inclusion and accuracy of Jews, Judaism, Jewish history, and Israel. 99% of our suggested changes were accepted by the State Board of Education and Texas Education Agency.

• Advocating for the passage of TX Senate Bill 326, which requires public schools and universities to consider the IHRA definition of antisemitism when evaluating student conduct. This legislation is a significant step forward in recognizing and addressing the various forms of antisemitism that can manifest in educational settings.

• Supporting the Hillels of Texas Summit, a weekend designed to bring together Jewish college students from across Texas to connect, learn, and deepen their Jewish identity. The summit was funded in part by a grant from the Federation.

Empowering Parents

In the Spring of 2025, we co-convened the Empowered Parents Summit (an AJC initiative), where 50 parents gathered to connect, learn, and gain tools and resources to advocate for Jewish children and address antisemitism in schools. Federation produced a Resource Guide for Parents of K-12 Jewish Students and published a new page on our Federation website with tools and resources for students, parents, educators, administrators and others to address antisemitism.

As a teacher and parent, attending this event was incredibly encouraging. It not only connected me with other concerned parents in the community but also gave me clear guidance on how to report antisemitic incidents in schools. Most importantly, we were introduced to practical, age-appropriate educational resources we can now share with educators to help foster understanding and inclusion in our children’s classrooms.”

Leadership Development Group: Training Our Future Leaders

As a part of our Emerging Leaders program, we relaunched our Leadership Development Group (LDG), providing curriculum, workshops, and networking to a cohort of young professionals, who will be our next generation of leaders to advocate for and guide our community.

JOINING LDG taught me about all the ways I can serve our community in the future. It gave me hope and excitement to become more deeply involved in our community, serve on boards and advisory committees, and make a difference.”

— LANCE F.

BEING PART OF LDG

has given me new insight into the remarkable breadth of work taking place across our Dallas Jewish community - from our children’s Jewish education to essential support for families both locally and in Israel. As a parent, this experience has inspired me to help strengthen our community now and for the next generation through meaningful connection, collaboration, and action.”

Outreach, Engagement, and Affordability of Jewish Life

The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas is committed to making Jewish life accessible, engaging, and affordable for all members of our community. Through strategic investments in outreach and engagement initiatives, we help individuals and families connect meaningfully to Jewish identity, tradition, and community—regardless of background or financial means.

By reducing financial barriers, strengthening educational excellence, and fostering inclusive programming, the Federation ensures that Jewish life in Dallas remains vibrant and sustainable. These efforts are only possible through the generosity of our donors, whose support empowers us to lead boldly, act collectively, and build a stronger Jewish future—together.

PJ Library Endowment Launches through Visionary Support from the Mankoff Family Foundation

With a generous seed gift from the Mankoff Family Foundation, we’ve planted the roots of something extraordinary—the PJ Library Endowment Campaign. This effort is more than a fundraiser; it’s a promise to our children and grandchildren that Jewish stories, values, and traditions will continue to fill their homes for generations to come.

PJ Library books make Jewish learning fun, easy, and accessible for our community. Each month, PJ Library sends Jewish children a free, age-appropriate Jewish themed book!

JOIN THE MANKOFF FAMILY in strengthening Jewish education throughout Dallas today!

Supporting the Individual

We’re here for individuals and families—every step of the way. Whether it’s a child heading to Jewish overnight camp for the first time through One Happy Camper, youth finding their voices in our Student-to-Student program, or a teen traveling to Israel for the first time through our Israel Scholarships, we’re helping people grow, connect, and feel proud of who they are.

We’re also proud to walk alongside our community through life’s challenges and transitions. Through strategic coordination and the Federation’s fiscal support of our trusted partner agencies, we help meet essential needs: Jewish Family Service offers compassionate mental health care and emergency assistance, JCRS provides scholarships and special needs support for youth, and The Legacy Senior Communities ensures older adults are surrounded by dignity, care, and connection.

From joyful milestones to moments of need, we’re here to help each person feel seen, supported, and part of something larger.

Providing dignified care, comprehensive support, and emergency financial assistance to our local Holocaust survivors is deeply rewarding. It is also a very intense and challenging process, especially with an increase in needs as they age, face illness, and overall decline. This year, we identified 53 additional survivors, most of whom live below the poverty line. In the past 5 years, we have served 195 Holocaust survivors in the greater DFW area. Many of them have been here for decades, but didn’t ask for help until now. Through ongoing outreach and with critical support from the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, grantors, and donors, we have made significant strides in serving them. We honor their resilience and recognize their inspiring presence in our community.

Early Childhood Day of Professional Learning

In our early childhood day of professional learning, over 200 dedicated teachers from our early childhood schools—representing over 1,100 students—came together to grow, collaborate, and inspire one another in support of our youngest learners.

Building Community

From warmly welcoming newcomers to honoring cherished traditions, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas builds a vibrant and inclusive community where every individual can find connection and purpose. Through our dynamic societies—many of which are embraced by families across generations—and a wide range of affinity groups, the Federation offers meaningful opportunities to engage, lead, and belong. These connections not only strengthen our local fabric, but they also extend across the globe through our Israel and overseas programs, deepening our ties to the broader Jewish world and reinforcing our shared responsibility. Whether someone is new to Dallas or deeply rooted in its Jewish life, the Federation ensures there’s a place for everyone in our collective journey.

The JBorhood initiative is supported not only by Federation funding but also through a close partnership as thinking partners and collaborators. This relationship amplifies the impact of JBorhood, allowing both organizations to shape programming that meets the evolving needs of the community and aligns with shared goals.” —

Accessibility of Jewish Life

Our outreach and engagement initiatives are all about building meaningful connections and creating inclusive spaces for Jewish life to thrive. Innovative programs like Newish and Jewish welcome newcomers to the area, and Jborhood, a visionary collaboration with the Aaron Family JCC, brings neighbors together through local affinity groups. It’s all about making Jewish life more welcoming, accessible, personable, and fun!

My parents moved to Dallas to be closer to us, their kids, in 2015. They were always content with their “small worlds” here in Dallas, after they retired. But when my mom unexpectedly passed away in April, it left my dad without a support system that extended beyond his family. One of her last wishes for us was to “get involved and find a Jewish home.” We went to an open house at Temple Shalom and brought him along with us just “to get him out.” We started talking to other members, and we were introduced to the Jborhood organization through some of the women we met there. Since then, my dad has made friends, gone to events from Family Feud nights to dinner in the sukkah. The Jborhood has truly changed his life... He’s meeting and making friends and being invited to gatherings all of which wouldn’t have happened without the Jborhood. You don’t always get to hear or see what impact an organization has on someone, but this truly has made a difference in our lives and more importantly his.”

Israel and Overseas

Our Israel and Overseas allocations reflect and foster meaningful connections between Jewish Dallas and the Jewish communities around the world, including our three partnership communities: Budapest, Western Galilee, and Zikim.

The positive changes we’ve experienced as a community this past year are thanks to the Federation—first and foremost, because of the knowledge that we are not alone. Across the ocean, we have true friends who care about us, love us, and support us both as individuals and as a community. The Federation’s generous support has slowly but surely helped us rebuild and grow stronger. It has enabled us to create shared spaces for cultural and community events and has also empowered us to strengthen our local leadership and expand our informal education programs—the beating heart of our community.”

— RESIDENT OF KIBBUTZ ZIKIM

Gathering Community

We bring our community together in moments of celebration, learning, solidarity and remembrance. From joyful gatherings like Limmud Dallas to powerful commemorations such as Yom HaZikaron and our October 7th Community Commemoration, we create space for connection, reflection, and growth. Whether we’re dancing, learning, grieving, or healing, we show up for one another—because community is something we build together.

A member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra played Hatikvah (Hebrew for “The Hope”) at our annual community gathering, uniting members of our community as we sang the Israeli National Anthem.
It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you at liberty to neglect it.”
RABBI

TARFON, PIREKI AVOT 2:21

Our campaign societies and affinity groups foster meaningful connections and collective action by uniting individuals around shared values, empowering voices, and cultivating a vibrant, inclusive community.

Last year’s Pacesetter Event featured a powerful and deeply moving conversation between Mosab Hassan Yousef, a former Hamas insider turned Israeli intelligence informant, and journalist Liel Leibovitz. Sharing his extraordinary journey from extremism to advocacy for peace, Yousef’s story underscored the Federation’s mission to protect Jewish life, promote truth, and build bridges of understanding in an increasingly complex world. His message of courage, transformation, and moral clarity inspired our community to lead with conviction and compassion.

We became Federation Pacesetters as we appreciated a coordinated, credible approach to advocacy addressing antisemitism and other important Jewish causes. We get a keen sense of fulfillment in seeing how the Federation allocates time and resources for the Jewish community in Dallas and beyond.”

The multigenerational conversation highlighted both business success and community impact.

I have actively participated in the Business & Professional Society to meet and network with other Jewish philanthropists. The Society has provided high level events with industry leaders giving their valuable insights. I particularly enjoy attending events with my industry peers who are similarly focused on impacting our community. The Society enhances the image of the Federation as a home for “leading” Jewish philanthropists.”

It’s been an honor to help lead this Society, and I look forward to continuing to foster a space for connection, purpose, and growth for business professionals within the Federation.”

Last year’s Lion of Judah and Pomegranate Societies Luncheon offered a heartfelt and timely conversation with Zibby Owens, editor of On Being Jewish Now, alongside journalist Alana Newhouse. Together, they explored the evolving experience of Jewish womanhood, sisterhood, and resilience in the wake of October 7th—deeply resonating with our Lions and Poms, a community committed to strength, unity, and purpose.

Being a Lion of Judah was important to me because my mom and mother-in-law have been Lions forever. I also wanted to continue the tradition for my children. My oldest just became a Lion and my youngest daughter is a pomegranate on her way to becoming a Lion—going to conventions every other year with them is something I look forward to.”

Support Jewish Dallas

Together, we achieved extraordinary results but there’s still potential for even greater impact. Your gift matters!

Donate today at jewishdallas.org/donate or use the QR code at left.

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT WITH Employer Matching!

Over the years, the Federation has teamed up with hundreds of organizations to provide matching gift opportunities, empowering both employers and employees with a simple and effective way to give back. Most employer programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of the gift.
