A LETTER FROM OUR LEADERSHIP
Dear Friends of Jewish Family Service,
We are SO grateful for you today - and every day. It seems like we say this every year, because it’s true, but the agency is growing at lightning speed. Before the pandemic, we were serving about 14,000 individuals per year, and then in 2020 as the pandemic began, 23,000 individuals turned to us. In 2021, services reached all-time records with 39,000 individuals served and this past year the agency assisted almost 30,000 individuals.
As JFS evolved to help where needed most, many of these individuals were provided food to prevent them from going hungry, employment support to help find new jobs after an unexpected layoff and emergency housing and utility assistance to prevent eviction. This is what we do at JFS. We help where needed most, and we respond as needs change.
For more than 70 years, JFS has met the evolving needs of our community. Since the agency’s inception, we have provided basic needs and counseling for those impacted or displaced by natural disasters like hurricanes, floods and tornadoes, supported thousands of individuals and families through the Ebola outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic, and have been a reliable resource for those experiencing a personal crisis, family struggles or career transition. With comprehensive resources for all ages, backgrounds, and incomes, we continue to provide our core services including play therapy for children, counseling for teens, individual, marital and family therapy, family violence intervention, career and financial coaching, older adult services, emergency assistance and, as of late, expanded access through our renovated food pantry. Most recently, our board approved the addition of medical services in 2023, adding depth to the services we provide to those in need.
Both JFS Dallas’ national accreditation by the Council on Accreditation and successful service outcomes underscore the quality of our effective coordinated whole-person care. We continue to maintain a 4-Star Charity Navigator rating, for 8 consecutive years, an honor that places JFS Dallas among the top four percent of nonprofits nationally. When you donate to our agency, we hope you know you are supporting a credible, responsible organization.
We hope you enjoy reading this report and reminiscing on the impact of all our efforts. Thank you for believing in our work, joining us on this journey, supporting our mission and helping MAKE MORE POSSIBLE for those in need.

Sincerely,
Cathy Barker Chief Executive Officer Julie Liberman 20-22 Board Chair
