Six-year-old Maya faced challenges with social anxiety and self-expression, making it difficult for her to form friendships at school. Recognizing these difficulties, Maya’s parents were referred to JFS for behavioral health and case management. In play therapy, Maya found a safe space to freely express her emotions. Through these sessions, a licensed clinician identified the source of Maya’s struggles: she had been listening to her parents’ daily verbal arguments at home.
Taking a comprehensive approach, Maya’s parents also received counseling. Together, they addressed the root causes of their marital problems and learned healthy strategies to resolve conflicts without negatively affecting their children.
As a result, Maya regained her self-confidence, trust in her parents, the ability to enjoy her childhood, and the ability to thrive in school.
$150 is the average price per session for play therapy in Texas. JFS clients pay an average of just $5 per appointment

Samuel, a Holocaust survivor born in 1931, relocated to Dallas with his wife to rebuild their lives after the war. Despite leading a secure and happy life, they both carried deep emotional wounds from their past. To help cope and find healing, they turned to JFS.
Samuel and his wife found invaluable support in weekly psychotherapy and case management services. As their adult children relocated to different states, JFS provided sponsored home care, and a dedicated Friendly Visitor was there to ensure their comfort, companionship, and dignity in their daily lives.
As the aging process presented life-altering challenges for Samuel, he received assistance in coordinating hospice care for the utmost comfort and support. His wife, Lana, received essential psychoeducational therapy to prepare for her husband’s end of life, followed by much-needed bereavement support.
