PILATUS PC-12 MARKET OVERVIEW FOR JUNE

June always brings a sense of renewal and excitement. The days are longer, the weather is warmer, and some people are golfing more! It’s a time for outdoor adventures, family barbecues, and soaking up the sun. Summer is also a chance for many of us to slow down and give consideration to other topics such as: your current aircraft, that update or modification you have always wanted to do, or maybe exploring a complete change. Either way, when we give our brains an opportunity to relax, these topics have a tendency to trickle in a bit more.

This month’s Pulse theme is “modifications in the aircraft industry.”

It’s the age-old debate: keep your existing aircraft, modify/upgrade, or upgrade/purchase a new one?

Historically, we know that 80% of the people who make the ‘aircraft’ decision to upgrade sit in the rear of the aircraft. Giving more meaning to making ‘creature comfort’ investments like interior cosmetics, or WI-FI systems, etc… and even perhaps mods that make you go faster like the speed cowl. Items with large gravitas may feel like a big investment, but will certainly impact the resale value of your aircraft down the runway.

Often, people ask ”When is the best time to perform modifications to my aircraft?” Ideally, during an annual inspection. If you can coordinate your service and upgrades in a linear fashion, you may be able to get back to flying faster. However, rarely can you find a service center that can also perform several different mods at the same time. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few that can assist in various aspects, but none of them can accomplish a “one stop shop” project for you. This is a little bit of fantasy land, as syncing up resources is rarely accomplished but always strived for.

We are here not only to coach people through modifications, timing, and the process, but also to ensure the highest standards. Our conviction on this topic is so strong that we sometimes refuse to list an aircraft that does not meet our minimum standards of marketable conditions. We only ask owners to spend money on improvements if it’s necessary, emphasizing that these improvements will help sell the aircraft faster and at a better price.

Our recent client’s 2008 PC-12NG highlights the value of cosmetic upgrades. We spent $75,000 in six weeks overhauling its paint and interior. Thanks to improvements in key “landscaping” areas, the aircraft’s “curb appeal” improved significantly, leading to a much better price and a sale in under 50 days.

From an economics standpoint, and depending on the modification, owners can look to get 50-80% back in residual values with the right mods. While it may not be dollar for dollar, you’ll move to the front of the line for a quicker sale, sale price, and higher buyer confidence. This can be beneficial as more aircraft come on the market and we are seeing longer sales periods.

At JetSwiss, we know that making modifications to aircraft requires a high level of expertise. Even the most reputable providers can make mistakes, which is why it’s crucial to work with a trusted and experienced shop. Over the past year, we’ve been fortunate to collaborate with some fantastic clients, going above and beyond to provide the best services possible. From managing overhauls, paint jobs, test flights and major avionics installs, to conducting conference calls, reviewing contracts, and validating every detail—we dedicate significant resources and time to ensure each project is completed to the highest standard. Modification projects can be labor-intensive, involving extensive communication and coordination. The key takeaway is clear: when it comes to modifications, hiring an expert is essential. Having a trusted professional like JetSwiss by your side to handle the details is priceless. While opting for a cheaper, lesser-known shop might seem tempting, it often leads to more significant time, headaches, and expenses down the line due to potential mistakes. Trust in proven expertise, invest in quality, and ensure your aircraft modifications are handled with the utmost care and precision.

As always, we are here to answer any questions you might have around modifying your Pilatus PC-12.

Fly safe, The JetSwiss Team

TOP PERFORMANCE AND COMFORT MODS FOR THE PC-12

The Pilatus PC-12 is a fantastic machine—world-renowned for its versatility and impressive performance. But for owners seeking that extra edge, several modifications can elevate your flying experience. Here are five top contenders:

5 or 7 Blade Propeller: Costs $90,000-$120,000

Upgrade to a five or seven-bladed propeller. This translates to better takeoff performance, a faster climb rate, and a quieter cabin. Reduced vibration also minimizes pilot fatigue on longer journeys. These benefits come with the added advantage of lower operating costs due to repairable blades and the option for single-blade replacement.

Upgraded Aviation Panel (Legacy Aircraft): Costs $50,000 - $400,000

Modernize your cockpit with a next-generation avionics suite from Garmin. This could include a fully integrated touchscreen system with advanced navigation, weather radar, and autopilot capabilities. Enhanced situational awareness and streamlined operation lead to safer and more efficient flights.

Cabin Updates: Costs $$$

Consider installing executive seating with increased legroom and recline options. Upgraded soundproofing materials further reduce noise, while an advanced air conditioning system ensures optimal cabin temperature control

Wifi / Talk / Text – Costs $10,000 - $150,000

Stay connected during flight with a WiFi or Airtext system. The Gogo AVANCE L3 system provides affordable and reliable internet access, allowing passengers to stay productive or entertained throughout the journey. Installation is straightforward, making GoGo Wifi a perfect upgrade to enhance your PC-12’s capabilities. Airtext can be accessed with a portable box or fully integrated system.

Exterior Paint: Costs $85,000 - $100,000

Keep passengers entertained with a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system. This could include highdefinition displays, a robust audio system, and connectivity options for streaming content. Passengers can work or unwind in comfort during longer flights.

6.

Speed Cowl: Costs $100,000

Significantly boost performance, climb rate, and cruise speed. By improving airflow to the engine, it allows for more power at the same temperature, letting you reach cruising altitude faster and potentially achieve higher cruising speeds.

Modifications should be made by certified technicians using approved parts. Carefully weigh the cost-benefit ratio of each upgrade and ensure it aligns with your specific flying needs. Consulting with a specialist can help you determine the optimal modifications for your PC-12. And you know, we’re here for that. ;)
