Members’ News People S BAILEY (1977) has retired from parochial ministry in the Anglican Church of Australia and is happily supporting his wife, Jane, in her continuing teaching career. H BEVAN (2011) was awarded The Princess Royal Silver Medal for 2022 for her outstanding contribution to UK engineering. Heba founded and runs UtterBerry Ltd, a wireless sensor system that consists of a collection of miniature, artificially intelligent, ultra-low-power sensors. Its technology has been used in a variety of major national infrastructure projects including London’s Crossrail and Thames Tideway, with customers including Network Rail, London Underground, Thames Water, Laing O’Rourke, Costain, BAM and BFK. R CASALE (1986) organised an event in the name of climate action with The World Relay, called Running Out of Time. It’s the longest non-stop relay ever attempted and a world record. The mass participation run covered 7700 km and 18 countries from Scotland to COP27 in Egypt. With over 250,000 participants, the relay has inspired more people to take steps together to accelerate local climate action (www.carboncopy.eco). J R BOWEN (1998) was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his work in Public Service. Mr Bowen is a Director for International Agreements and Trade at the Department for Exiting the European Union. G S COLE (1985) was appointed Team Rector of Leominster in the Diocese of Hereford in October 2021. T A DARNTON (1986) has published a YA thriller, Ready or Not. This is her third book following her Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize shortlisted The Truth About Lies (2018) and 2020’s The Rules. Ready or Not is published by Little Tiger Press Group. J I DUNNETT (1967) held an exhibition of stone carvings, paintings and bronze sculpture that explored the potential of the human figure for spatial and votive expression entitled ‘Of Geometry and Gods, Side by Side’. Supported by the Arts Council, the exhibition ran from 7 April to 1 May 2022 at the National Trust’s Sandham Memorial Chapel in Berkshire. M W FINNIS (1968) was elected to Fellow of the Royal Society. He is the Chair in Materials Theory and Simulation at the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London, and co-founder of the Thomas Young Centre, the London Centre for Theory and Simulation of Materials and Molecules. R C J FLEMING (1971) retired to Cornwall in 2016 where he is now Captain of the Cornwall over 60s cricket 1st XI who won the ECB National Vase Competition in 2021 and also won the South West Regional group in 2022 before losing in the knockout stages of the Senior Cup Competition. M A GREEN (1983) was received by The Prince of Wales (pictured), on behalf of The Queen in March 2022 (upon his appointment as Justice of the High Court when His Royal Highness conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of Knights Bachelor in November 2020).
