Hale, Sr. and Ella Mae Rone Hale on September 23, 1945.

Reverend Willie B.E. Boyd, Jr.

He was a 1963 graduate of Melrose High School and an active alumnus until his passing. After high school, Wilson entered the United States Air Force in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was also a graduate of State Technical Institute of Memphis, where he earned an Associates Degree in Engineering.

He attended Robinhood Lane Baptist Church.

Wilson enjoyed family life, often doting on his nephews, Jason and Kevin Hale, as well as his daughter, Mimi, grands, and great-grandchildren. He took pleasure in attending concerts, eating in the restaurants and games of chance at his favorite Fitzgerald’s Casino. “Fireball” was known throughout the neighborhood (Shytown) for speeding up and down Fizer. People would often say, get out of the way, here comes Fireball. “Wheat” as he was affectionately known by his Melrose classmates, cherished Friday lunches with his buddies.

Wilson departed this life on March 21, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 32 years, Ramona Fay Hale; daughter, MyQuita “Mimi” Webb (Anthony); brother, Columbus Hale (Brenda); nephews, Jason and Kevin Hale; grandchildren, Lakean, Kelsey, Tyler “Chump”, Gillian, and Olivia; and great-grandson , Kaleb “Head”; and a host of family and friends.

His Journey’s Just Begun

Don’t think of him as gone away his journey’s just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.

And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched... for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.
