Tell me a bit about the location you chose: News anchor Eve (Tannery) Russo and owner of Capital Printing Corp. Nolan Russo, from New Jersey, were married in a rustic-chic wedding at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards in Virginia. The couple, in their 30s, had been to banquet halls, country clubs, and hotels in their area for weddings that were all relatively similar, so they wanted their wedding venue to be something different, memorable, and intimate. The wedding was a “drive-able destination,” so guests - mainly family - could spend a few days celebrating the couple and getting to know one another. The ceremony overlooked the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the reception took place inside a glamorous barn. Guests enjoyed a cigar bar, s’mores, a donut truck after dinner, and the Russo’s left with a sparkler send-off.

Advice to Future Brides (from Eve): I think every bride will, inevitably, get wrapped up in every little detail at some point during the wedding process. It’s normal, and it can really make the difference in taking your wedding from okay to outstanding, but, the truth is, it’s not worth stressing over every little thing. At some point, you have to kind of throw your hands into the air and say, “The rest doesn’t matter; I’ve planned as much as I possibly could.” On my wedding day, I focused on the man I was marrying, and that was all that 8 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net

mattered - not the placement of the signage, not the gifts in the welcome bag, etc. What people took away, I hope, was our love for each other, because that’s where our focus was on our wedding day. That’s what made it unforgettable and magical to me. We also made a point to step aside on our wedding day and take everything in. We watched our family enjoying everything we had planned, and we spent some time together to talk about the day and just how magical everything was.

Advice to Future Grooms (from Nolan): I think all grooms might think some elements of the wedding are unnecessary, but my advice would be to trust your bride. They know these things. It’s in their blood. Eve worked on details I had never heard of with our team of professionals, and they just made our wedding so special. I was very involved and gave my opinion, but Eve led the charge, and we both were very much on the same page throughout the process. We talked a lot about how we wanted our guests to feel before we even started planning, and I think that really led to the creation of a unique, intimate wedding that everyone really enjoyed. We wanted everyone to feel like a part of the celebration, and we crafted three days that would allow for that. Because of the way things were structured, Eve and I didn’t have to stress about talking to every single guest on our wedding night. We were able to visit with guests throughout the 3-day weekend, and that allowed us to really focus on each other and enjoy every minute.

Currently, she has a special flat rate of $575 that includes your gown, your veil, some accessories, and basic adjustments. You will need to allow at least four weeks for the gown to be ready and you should plan on 3 months to get the best selection. The gowns are rented for 4-5 days and there is no need to clean your dress before returning it. Just bring it back in good condition.

Ice Art: Frozen Impressions

By C. Carroll | Photography by timmillerphoto.com In the township of Kempton in Berks county, a place better known for Hawk Mountain, and the Kempton County Fair, Jeff Crawford (aka the iceman), works his magic carving 300 pound blocks of ice into pieces of art.

It’s something he’s been doing for 28 years in the Lehigh Valley for hotels, weddings and catered events.

Frozen Impressions is a small business that guarantees a personal touch with a good price. The standard wedding package starts at $350 and includes delivery and set up. Your sculpture is delivered with drip pans to catch the melt and lighting for illumination. The special ice that is used is crystal clear, and it is delivered in a refrigerated truck, or with dry ice to ensure a high quality product. Regardless of the temperature, your carving will last your full event, up to 8 hours or more depending on the

While it is possible to get a carving in as little as two weeks, dates fill up, and you should give three or four months lead time to get the date you want. You can choose a design from images that Jeff provides for you and If you’d like, you can customize your vision in a number of ways. The most popular designs are love birds, swans, and hearts. Jeff will carve names and dates on your piece which he fills with snow for effect if you wish. He can incorporate color and functionality (meaning seafood stations, cold soup service, drink fountains, or a sushi bar or he’ll even create a full size ice bar) if you so desire.

Silver Creek was built in 1948 by the Bethlehem Steel Company. It was a private familyorientated country club which back then was called the Bethlehem Steel Club. In the mid-1980s, Bethlehem Steel wanted to sell the club, but instead the members stepped up and purchased it outright. Today, Silver Creek remains a private country club serving the community and all of the Lehigh Valley.

The 2015 Morning Call Readers’ Choice award, 2016 Lehigh Valley Style Magazine’s Best of the Lehigh Valley award and the 2016 Lehigh Valley Magazine Best of the Valley Award is ample evidence that she does it well.

Exquisite Bride asked Monica how she came to make flowers her profession. “I joined the floral world because of my husband. I am a former teacher and joined this wonderful world of flowers as a new career and something I felt I had a passion for,” Monica said. “My husband had known the previous owner of Ross for many years. He had developed a very special relationship with her, whereas, she was like a second mother to him. When Rita, the previous owner, was ready to sell, we were looking for a location to house our landscaping company, Naturalscapes. Ross Plants & Flowers was the perfect spot! We bought the property and the flower shop and that is where I entered the picture.

I was so excited to begin a new career and bring all the experience I had gained from teaching with me into this new world. On a side note, Ross Plants & Flowers created the floral designs for our wedding 23 years ago so this business always had a special place in our hearts,” states Groff.

“Our floral shop is different in many ways. We are a smaller shop; therefore, we get to know our brides and grooms,” she continues. “We develop a personal relationship, a friendship, with them, and we take on their wedding as if it were our own. Our attention to detail is unwavering and our best advertisement is a happy bride.

Monica tells us that the best time to begin the floral discussions is once you have ordered your bridesmaids’ dresses. This is when the bride knows her color scheme and the floral choices will complement the dress color and style.

When it comes to the budget, the amount of money spent on floral designs vary. There are personal flowers which include bouquets and boutonnieres, flowers for the ceremony and flowers for the reception. Some brides choose just to get personal flowers and some want flowers for all aspects of their special event. So a budget is difficult to say since there are so many factors from number of people in the wedding party to the number of tables at the reception. “We will work with any budget, large or small, and we will make sure the bride and groom’s vision comes to life!”, she says.

What are the trends in the flower world?

Monica says,” First of all, we are in the age of personalization. Brides and grooms are finding many ways to incorporate unique ways to show who they are through their wedding event. We are also seeing many do-it-yourselfers. Brides and grooms are very creative these days with Pinterest and other forms of social media. We often have brides bringing us items they have made that they want to incorporate into their floral centerpieces. Finally, the color trend is leaning towards the blue family. All shades of blue have found their way back into the wedding world and we love creating floral designs to compliment or contrast the blue family.”

Choosing Your Caterer Who is Right for You?

Doesn’t sound easy, does it? Often an initial phone call is enough to decide whether or not to meet someone. Ultimately the meeting tells you more about the specific abilities of the caterer you are interviewing – but you need to know the right questions to ask!

Most caterers are divided into three different categories – full service (usually capable of more formal events), BBQ (more casual service) and just a drop off. Even within these categories there can be a lot of differences in what each company can offer. Knowing what you want is key and reading the caterer you are interviewing will often tell you how comfortable they are with what you are looking for.

Arguably every company has its specialties.

coming months of planning and preparing. Never hesitate to ask what the company you are interviewing thinks they are good at. If you are looking for a served sit-down dinner and they are most comfortable with cocktail receptions or a buffet, you need to move on because asking someone to do something that they are not comfortable with tends to lead to disappointment and undo stress. When meeting with a potential caterer about your wedding planning you have a list of questions that you will want to ask. Below is a comprehensive list that we have compiled for you to make it a little easier when meeting with the caterers you have in mind.

THE BASICS: 1. Do you have my date available?

2. How many weddings do you do per year and how long have you been in business?

3. Have you done events at my location? TIP: If you haven’t chosen your location yet, ask the caterer if they can help you select one.

4. Are you licensed by the state of Pennsylvania? Are you licensed to serve alcohol?

5. Will I need any permits for my event? If so, will you handle obtaining them?

6. Will you provide a banquet manager to coordinate the meal service or an on-site coordinator who will run the entire event?

7. Can you assist with other aspects of the wedding like selecting other vendors, event design (e.g. specialty lighting, elaborate décor, theme events, etc.)?

11. Do you use all fresh produce, meat, fish, etc.?

Can you source organic or sustainably farmed ingredients if we are interested in that?

12. Can you accommodate dietary restrictions, such as kosher, vegan, gluten free, etc.?

13. What décor do you provide for appetizer stations or buffet tables?

14. Do you offer package upgrades such as chocolate fountains, ice sculptures, cappuccino machines or specialty displays?

15. Can you do theme menus (e.g. barbecue, luau, etc.)? Would you also provide the décor?

FOOD & PRESENTATION: 8. Given my budget, guest count and event style, what food choices would you recommend?

Do you specialize in certain cuisines?

9. Do we have to work off a preset menu or can you create a custom menu for our event? If I have a special dish I’d like served, would you accommodate that?

10. Do you offer event packages or is everything à la carte? What exactly do your packages include?

16. What’s the difference in cost between passed appetizers and appetizer stations? What’s the price difference between a buffet and a sit-down meal? If we have a buffet, are there any stations that cost extra, like a carving station? NOTE: Don’t automatically assume that a buffet is going to be the less expensive option. Ask your caterer which type of service is more affordable for you, given the menu you’re planning.

Pa. Marriage License What You Need to Know by County Laws

Are you ready to walk down the aisle and exchange vows with the one you love? Are you ready for two worlds to join as one?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, then here is want you need to know in order to have a legal marriage in Pennsylvania. The marriage laws may vary from county to county as each marriage license bureau could have their own requirements and the appropriate Clerk of the Orphans’ Court office will have the specific requirements necessary in your local area.

That said, every couple that intends to get married in Pennsylvania must apply for a marriage license, and there are certain rules that govern who may get a marriage license, how to get it and when it is valid. According to the website: www.weddingvendors. com, Pennsylvania recognizes heterosexual and same sex marriages where the people wanting to marry are not currently married to someone else. In addition, the couple that wishes to marry can not be related as first cousins, parent and child, siblings, aunt and nephew, uncle and niece or grandparent and

grandchild. A person must be 18 years of age in order to get married without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. A person under the age of 16 must have the consent of a judge and a parent.

The couple must go in person to the county courthouse with a valid driver’s licenses, passport or another acceptable form of identification as well as proof of social security number in order to apply for a license. A license fee will be required with your application and the fee varies from $25 to $85 depending on the county. If either person has been previously married, he or she must bring proof of the divorce decree. This needs to state the date of the decree, the county and state and must provide for proof of name change if applicable.

A copy of an annulment must have the same information as the divorce decree. If a widow/ widower, the date when the former spouse dies is necessary.

Getting a new marriage license with your name on it doesn’t mean your name has automatically changed. An online marriage name change kit will help you with that. There is a 3-day waiting period in Pennsylvania and you can pick up your license up at the county court house or have it mailed to you. It is valid for 60 days and a marriage license obtained in Pennsylvania can be used anywhere in the

The wedding must be officiated by a current or retired PA judge, mayor, minister, priest or a rabbi of a Pennsylvania town or city.

The license must be signed and certified by the officiant and given to the county within 10 days of the wedding. If it is not returned in time, the wedding may not be considered valid and you may have to apply for a new license.
