So many exciting things are taking place within our company and we just can’t wait to share it with all of you. It has been a lot of hard work but Tyler and I are excited and pleased to announce that coming this December, we will launch our second publication, Exquisite Bride of Monmouth and Ocean Counties in New Jersey. Along with that, we are over the top excited to be reaching out and expanding into the world of producing our own wedding shows. With great partner locations such as Olde Homestead Golf Club (which took place in June 2015), Willow Brook Special Events Center and the State Theatre in Easton we strive to make the shows a truly unique experience for our attendees.

Through this magazine and our exciting shows we offer a fresh and exciting take on everything weddings and offer endless inspiration for creative couples throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania. We strive to make the planning of your big day a truly fun and memorable experience because we love what we do and so do the partners that we work with. How We Met: A simple story, but proof that you know when you meet the right person...

Alicia and Nick met through Greek Life at Bloomsburg University. The brothers of Delta Pi were attending a party at the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority one night, and during a game, Alicia mentioned to a fellow sister her thoughts on Nick. That same sister prompted a conversation between the couple, and they continued talking through the night. The rest, as they say, is history!

Feature Couple (cont’d) ENGAGEMENT On Thursday, August 15, 2013, Nick asked Alicia to be his wife. Nick, with his dutiful assistant, mother of the bride, Mrs. Susan Kittle, researched the best sunset locations in Myrtle Beach, SC, where they were vacationing.

But despite all his research, Nick could not stop the rain from falling! During a wet stroll down the Murrells Inlet beach, Nick turned to Alicia and said, “Alicia, I love you so much. Will you marry me?”

There they were: alone on a wet beach, without that sought-after sunset, with Nick on one knee, when Alicia exclaimed, “Yes!” and the two shared a perfect moment together.

Advice to Future Brides and Grooms: Brides advice: Enjoy the process, enjoy planning with everyone and try not to stress it will all work out and no matter what it will be the most perfect day as long as you are marrying the man of your dreams!

Groom’s advice: Pick and choose your battles pick two things you want and just say “yes” to the rest!

Ask the Expert Beauty Is Only Skin Deep?

As a Naturopathic Doctor for the past 18 years, I have found that one of the biggest concerns of women, especially those getting ready for the big day, is their skin health.

Venue Spotlight: Lehigh Valley Zoo

Do you and your significant other have a great love for wildlife and nature? Thinking that you would like to say your “I do’s” at one of the most unique venues the Lehigh Valley has to offer? Then look no further than the Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville.

Here you can be surrounded by family, friends and more than 300 exotic animals while exchanging your wedding vows. Exquisite Bride spoke to the Marketing and Events Manager, Alan Raisman, and he has given us all the details on how couples can plan their one-of-akind wedding at the zoo.

Since 2012 the Lehigh Valley Zoo has allowed couples to book weddings and have their receptions here, and the venue’s popularity is continuing to increase. The Lehigh Valley Zoo has a variety of locations for couples to choose from for both their ceremony and reception that can be booked after hours. Three unique ceremony locations to choose from include the Jaindl Penguin Pavilion, the North American Otter exhibit and the Farm in the Zoo Exhibit.

All three locations offer something different for brides to choose from. Raisman states, “The Penguin Pathway is an ideal spot for couples to get married, with ten African Penguins creating an unforgettable backdrop.” The amphitheater style layout of the American River Otter exhibit is a perfect location for wedding parties containing over 100 guests. If you prefer a looking for a more customizable location, the Farm in the Zoo exhibit hosts a 20x40 tent that can accommodate between 70-100 guests.

If you’re interested in just having your reception at the Lehigh Valley Zoo, there several great locations for couples to choose from that can accommodate small or large wedding parties.

The Peacock Pavilion seats 96 people, and the Outdoor Dining Deck seats another 184 people.

These interactive exhibits include the Rainbow Lorikeet exhibit, Goat Exhibit, Farm in the Zoo exhibit and the Red Kangaroo Exhibit. The Lehigh Valley Zoo offers their own catering menu, but you can bring an outsider caterer if you prefer. Alcohol is permitted at the zoo after hours, but you’re responsible for hiring your own bartenders to serve the beverages. The staff at the zoo is more than accommodating and will be happy to help set up and clean up your event.

Finally, the best part about booking your wedding at the zoo? The revenue generated through rentals, catering and event enhancements helps support the daily cost to feed and care for the Zoo’s animal ambassadors.

Pick A Day Alternatives to the Saturday Wedding

Some women start thinking about their dream weddings from a very young age.

As a child, the white ballroom gown, horse and carriage and Saturday full of flowers and dancing play big roles in the fantasy. You yourself are probably guilty of this to a degree and secretly still have this in the plans for your big day.

Sometimes, however, this dream isn’t always a practical one and may limit you and your options when it comes to what you want for your dream wedding.

When thinking about your day, no doubt, most brides will look at a Saturday without a second thought to any other day of the week. Why is Saturday the most important and usually the only considered day of the week to get married?

The biggest factor is that it is in the middle of the weekend and most people do not have to worry about taking time off from work. It is more convenient for people who are traveling to get into town and have a little time to relax before all the activities begin.

Popularity does however come with its problems. Saturday is often a very hard day to book a wedding, at least the date you want.

Reservations need to be made years in advance to get the venue you just can’t live without.

In addition, the venue, caterer and other vendors you choose will most likely come with a higher price tag on a Saturday because of the competition. The wedding industry is an $86 billion dollar industry, according to statistics from the Association of Wedding Professionals International, and those involved with making the wedding day happen know this so the price tag is larger for their services.

So, what are your options? What are the advantages of giving up the Saturday wedding for another day of the week? For the bride on a budget there are many! Supply and demand for Saturday weddings means that a Friday or Sunday would generally be cheaper and more readily available. Skipping the weekend totally would be even more beneficial.

Things like your dream venue, that caterer you must have and that photographer who you know will capture all your memories but was booked every Saturday for 2 years straight are now options you have. Just keep in mind, you will want to check with your Church or ceremony site to make arrangements if you choose a non-weekend wedding.

Fiancé and Finances Five Questions to Ask Before Marriage

Marriage is a milestone in life; yet, many enter into the next phase without asking their spouse some vital questions about money. If you are among the soon-to-be wed, consider starting a conversation using the questions below.

Females are often portrayed as materialistic or over-the-top when it comes to their big day, but recent findings from an online Harris Poll tell a different story. Surprisingly, the study found that twice the number of men stated they would or did go into debt to pay for their dream wedding.

The study also found that both men and women valued financial responsibility. In fact, 91% indicated a preference for entering marriage debt-free as opposed to having a dream wedding.

“Marriage is a lifelong commitment built on trust, clear communication and honesty,” said John Heath, Directing Attorney for Lexington Law. “While some may find financial discussions unnecessary, understanding each other intimately in terms of what you both bring to the table – be it wealth or debt – will strengthen your relationship and help to avoid potentially serious friction to your marriage down the road.”

2. How should we budget for a family?

Kids are expensive, especially if you haven’t planned for them. Talk to your partner about how many kids you would both like to have.

Plan for child living expenses and how they will impact your budget, i.e. clothes, food, activities, medical expenses, schooling, etc.

3. How should we communicate about money?

Some couples are content to let one person handle the finances, and others like to split up the bills and share household responsibilities.

Regardless of what you decide, it is important to have a plan in place before getting married.

4. What should we do when we disagree about spending?

International Food Stations

Not sure what to serve your guests? Why not have a selection of buffet tables each with a different food specialty? You can turn a simple item like soup or a salad or even tacos - into a fabulous and fun experience that guests won’t soon forget! Doing it this way, everyone can have their favorite food, from fish or meat to pizzas, pasta or even a curry. With so many different possibilities, your guests will be able to sample a lot of different foods and will certainly be impressed with all the choices! We usually recommend at least 3 stations for a reception, offering multiple choices to even the most sophisticated palette!

Cheese and Wine

After a late afternoon ceremony, serving cheese and wine at a wedding can be a classy and budget-friendly alternative to a full dinner.
